1998 jeep cherokee,has a sluggish pick up.
Jeeps have electric solenoids inside the transmission, (shift solenoids) I would have the jeep tested at the advance auto or autozone for codes if the check engine light is on; (its free) and go from there. sounds like the jeep may be in limp mode which chrysler created to protect the transmission. limp mode will not allow the jeep to shift all the way up to overdrive or shift all the way down to 1st shifting position. feels like it has to get going over25 to move well . AAMCO transmissions will diagnose your jeep for free in most states. I’m happy to help further over the phone at

What would cause trans sensors to make check engine light come on /
this is bad,why not scan it while driving and see all DTC errors.and we fix them 1 by one.now a lesson in A/T diagnosis.if sensor B (wild guess)is throwing DLCs/ errorsit can be bad solenoid, or the sensor just dirty , clean itor the transmission slips.the TCM(PCM) is not smart at all , all it know is the B sensor is too slow. no WHY?see?find a real ASE mech, not some joker wana be.he will tell you what is true.and do all the tests to prove what it is.not guessing and telling things that all sensors are bad.he bad.

Ignition problem, turn key but nothing happens?
First thing to do is look at the dash lights when you put the switch in START position. If they blink or dim, you may have a faulty battery or poor connectivity.Next try jumping the starter. You'll find a starter jumper at almost any auto parts. If you get no result then the problem is with the starter, If the starter turns then the problem is in the starting circuit from the switch to the starter relay.

98 Jeep Cherokee Fog lights
It's definitely the switch...I bought two of 'em so far...known bug. I don't use the fog lights as much anymore , but the "Airtex" oem equivalent switch from Rockauto seems to be holding up well. If you dissamble your broke switch you'll probably see evidence that it is beginning to melt and theres alot, maybe too much, grease, which may or may not have been the cause of the bad, heating contacts inside switch.
If I remember right, even though the foglights have a relay there is still full amperage going through the switch or something....don't qoute me on that last statement.

Replacing engine coolant
depending on what happened I'd do all of it! Before refilling hand flush with garden hose& plenty open cockpit at bottom or side drain rest close fill w/ water run 5 min turn off cool empty repeat at least twice before refilling with cold water for any debris proper antifreeze and amount after wards// as scale can form inside radiator a good flush wont hurt it and prolong life of radiator
