Check the fuel pressure. If you have 30K miles on your jeep and the spark plugs in this motor need to be replaced. Jeep Grand Cherokees are notorious for not doing well with fuel with lower octane. Fill your Jeep with at least medium grade gasoline, especially if it has been shuddering or hesitating while you're attempting to accelerate.

in the future you should be more specific,, my best guess is you have acid erosion in your positive battery cable which has two 4 gauge lines coming from the connector on the battery,, your one cable that goes to the main fuse box is bad,, you can either replace the cable ( best way) or cut the connector off and keep trimming the cable until you see no more green acid erosion in the cable..and use an after market connector to repair.

Before you replaced the neutral safety switch did you check for power or battery voltage with a volt meter ? Did you check fuse # 11 20amp in power distribution box under the hood ! do you have 2.5L with automatic trans ? or 4.0 L with automatic trans ? Dark brown with white stripe an brown with lite green stripe ?

Could be low freon or excess pressure caused by bad orifice tube.

replace it from any reliable auto parts dealer.

Crank but won't start

The washer pump is located directly on the washer solvent resevoir, to remove it just disconnect the washer solvent hose and pump electrical connector, then just pull motor outward. it is just a snap type fit to the resevoir.

The same thing happened to me and it was the switch for the rear interior light got bumped on.

no it is not normal....have a repair shop check the coolant fan sending unit or the coolant fan relay...a bad sending unit maybe sending a false overheating signal to the fan causeing it to stay on or the on off fan relay maybe sticking on..an make sure the jeep is not actually running hot the temp guage maybe reading the wrong temp

Sorry to the above posters,but they are incorrect, the relay is actually in the PDC (Power Distribution Center) under the hood in a box on the passenger side of the vehicle. Here is a schematic to help you.

Yes i believe they are interchangeable as long as they both have the same number of doors(2 door vs 4door)

the oper guide and fsm cover that. is the radio dead.?? what is the symptoms, we do symptoms not hunts well. here. there is no speaker fuse. sorry just the fuse marked RADIO. did you look on both fuse boxes. i had a 99, so know it well. its on all uSA cars , drivers door. and in glove box operators guide, lost that. buy one. look again? for sticker, it is there. the door jam only covers stock sized tires. and you didn't post that. P205/75-r15? each tire made has a perfect pressure based on load on the tire. every tire has chart for that. (all do) if not a stock tire. you need a chart. sold with 5 different tires sizes, says FSM book. what is important is not driving with cupped or crowning tire treads this is dangerous to do . if unsure, do the chock test. (google "tire foot print chock test" there are only 2 ways 1: the chart or door sticker facts 2: or chock tests. 30 PSI my be a good starting place on stock tires. doing it right, avoids skids. or worse careening..

bushings are weared down

As long as your replacing the wires it won't matter to try this. Grab ahold of the outside of the part going over the plug with a pair od needle nose pliers and try twisting it in a circle back and forth. If that doesn't work just pull the wires until they break off and then vut what's left off.

The air bag light has to do with the air bag sensors in the bumper being bad, or the air bag module being bad.

The cruise control not working has to do with a broken cable from the cruise control mechanism, or a blown fuse for cruise control, or the cruise control being turned off.

Have you checked the computer for trouble codes ?Could be a long list - pickup module, coil, ignition module, distributor, rotor, power relay, etc.

the cancellation spring in the switch maybe broken/weak and not turning off the signal or the steering wheel is not centered and not allowing the cancel spring to contact the switch off position correctly.

1998 Cherokee? wow , old bendix starters ,they are long long gone, (done many) a blast from the past. LOL so is this an after market hacked in Remote?> sure. well buy a new system and read the instructions. if using an old system , get the instructions online, at makers web site, we can not guess makers, of anything aftermarket. it hangs up the starter solenoid, , and is very dangerous to you , like that. sure. my guess is the control (in car) is bad, shorted relay in box or transistor that drives the small wire to the starter, or to cars starter relay . the starter relay is in the USA PDC fuse box. all answers USA , not export jeeps, this is a USA forum (calif)
