check to see if you have a spark also gas going true your lines

I had same problem fators are important it could be a celenoid in the trans you also could try aaddative and fluid change but if you plan on keeping the jeep get it checked at a good ****** shop!!

yes it should be under electric mirror but you have to check the coonection from control to the mirror sometimes if there is any loose connection both mirror will stop working

Clogged fuel filters will cause this. Other things also. I would start here, a $10.00 fix Also is this burp threw the throttle body.

You may have a faulty ignition coil. Check to see if system is firing when it won't start. If you have fire it is probably fuel pump.

You will destroy your transmission trying to tow a 4x4 with any wheel rolling on the ground. You could however have the rear drive shaft removed for towing and have the front wheels up on a tow dolly. That would be safe.

I have the 87 cherokee and I don't think it has the "tip over" fuel cut off safety switch. If you are not getting any fuel the fuel pump (its in the fuel tank) has either lost power or stopped working. They used a couple of different styles so don't buy one untill you have pulled the old one out. also you can check for voltage on the wires that feed the fuel pump. If you have voltage but are not getting any gas flow then the pump is not working.

I believe you are on the right track for this issue by suspecting the camshaft position sensor (CMP). However I would also be giving the crankshaft position sensor(CKP) equal consideration. Those two sensors communicate with the ICM to determine spark timing strategy. Th loss of either of those signals will create the condition you describe. I would probably start with the CMP because if that sensor fails the vehicle will continue to run because the ICM will calculate spark timing based off the last signal received. Then when you try to restart the engine will not fire. I believe you got a good beat on it and all I did was confirm your thought process. Hope this helped and good luck.

Check your temp sensor. if it's out of range it could be sending incorrect readings to the computer. Also check the white ceramic block on the drivers side fender back near the brake cylinder. It is a resistor that affects pump pressure on start up.

Rough idle can be caused by many different things - you need to always start with a basic tune up; spark plugs, fuel filter and air filter, as the vehicle will not perform well if any of these three are bad. Then check all vacuum lines for cracks or breaks and replace as needed. You can also add a fuel injector cleaner into the gas tank. I recommend the black bottle of STP concentrated fuel injector cleaner, and you can purchase that at most Wal-Mart's.

This is my usual recommendation, but in your case if this is a vehicle that you are not familiar with, I would start with a compression test. If you have a low cylinder than nothing short of repairing the engine will help. If all the cylinders are close to the same compression, than the above recommendation should help the way it runs.

Usually spitting and sputtering is more of a timing issue. So the timing belt/chain, whichever you have, may have slipped. Hope this helps and good luck :O)

you dont say how hot it runs, could be head gasket problems, or you my just have an air lock in the cooling system

THere should only be one vacuum hose going to your transmission, and it plugs on to the modulater valve. If you think it's leaking, replace the whole hose. It could be any vacuum hose leaking oin the engine. About all you can do is , with the engine running, wiggle all your hoses and listen for a hissing sound. Check for cracked, damaged or loose hoses.

The fuel pressure should be a constant 9 to 19 psi.

You will have to drop the fuel tank on your jeep to change that fuel pump.
