it's old its an 1986 trooper, what engine, is it the diesel or gas.? the gas is 2.0L or 2.3L do you have one of those? and they ran carbs up to 94 they held the record in USA for that. is car in USA> , must we guess? you never once stated what engine is in the trooper.Did you park it the back 40 , for 10 years.+then try to run it>? ever get a tuneup this decade? no? why? if no. our 86' the choke died and cant buy parts for it so switch to manual choke, like my first car we did it, in a 1959. the 4zd1 carb engine (wild guess on engine)is below. 1: so ever get a tuneup this decade. filters, all, spark parts, cap./rotor, wires and plugs? be like NOWS that time. no?the engine has cam belt that must be changed, did you. if it slips engine lacks power or BUCKS.or going for the 100,000 mile world record? on said belt.......???the 2.0 is chain drive cam, so now's that time to fess up and tell us what engine is there. (about 9 engines world wide, ouch) really.or post your country and your VIN? 2: then if sparks are ok, then its fueling.issues. and the below. clean the carb? (takes me a full day to do that)hard work. carbs are all about that , work.jets, nozzles, emulsion tubes. , jets fell out?is choke stuck on> hot? I NEED HELP I HAVE A 1986 ISUZU TROOPER PROBLEM, 1 IT WILL DRIVE REALLY GOOD AND THEN ALL A SUDDEN IT BOGGS DOWN AND THEN STOPS . I HAVE CHANGE THE FUEL FILER . IF SOMEONE HAS A DIAGRAM FOR THE FUEL PUMP OR THE ANSWER FOR THE PROBLEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

the gauge does what, (shoe drops) too high, tool low, or varies or smokes? lol "a problem tells nuttn" the FSM is clear on the tests. you check the 2 wires going tank sender say back end of car. if tank full it can read, like 10 ohms or less. and full like 100 ohms. Infinity is bad sender or wire to it. i dont know how full your tank is. if that test passes. the gauge is bad, lost power to gauge ground to gauge broken or any where end to end tank to gauge. the FSM covers this>? best is to log in to http://www.scantool.net/software/alldata-diy-1-month-subscription.html alldata, and read. its all there, under fuel gage testing. recap

quote , fsm on all 86's 1985 gauge test. Trooper: remove the sub meter assembly and measure the resistance between the two terminals shown in the illustration. The resistance should be 25 ohms. the gauge can be hot wired with say a 194 lamp in series never do that , with no lamp. or you can smoke any gauge. 194 is a side lamp on millions of cars, top shelf of walmart elect, rack.(auto dept) bingo?

There should be a plug or bolt on top or on the side of box.

no fuel ,check and clean fuel filters and fuel pumps, and make sure you have a good fuel flow going into motor.you can open line at carb to check for fuel.

some of these were manual clutch cable check adjustment of cable at firewall (bulkhead) and check for cracks around where cable goes through to inside cab common on old girls. if hydraulic clutch system check fluid in clutch master cylinder is it low? it could have leaking slave cylinder on gear box bell housing or your clutch needs replacing, gear box out and replace clutch as a kit, pressure plate, clutch plate, thrust bearing (comes as kit) but dont forget to check and or replace the spigot bearing in the rear of the crank shaft when doing clutch kit.

It shouldn't matter what gear. Replace the back-up light switch on the transmission.

The ignition timing is of. If it has a distributor the advance is broken. cheak for were or loose parts. It may need replacing

sounds like your stater cynanoid has gone bad follow the wire coming from the batt to it it might go to the starter it might be right on top

Checkmate. You have trash at the Bottom of that tank and will have to Drop it to stop Dropping Cash on Fuel Pumps and Injectors. There is not a lot of other Options that you have not Explored already.

check your throttle control module

Is this a four cylinder engine? If it is, and you are starting from lining up the crank pulley to the zero degrees mark, and then finding the rotor pointing to number 4, you may be on the exhaust stroke of number 1. You know, if you turn the crankshaft one revolution, around to same spot on the crank, the rotor will now be pointing to #1? That's if it is a four cylinder. Has the distributor been pulled out of the engine block and put back in? Don't know what you are trying to do exactly, but if the distributor has not been disturbed, and its a four cylinder engine, turn the crank one revolution, line up the notch or mark on the crank pulley, and check that rotor is now pointing to number one.

There is a plug on your raidiator on the bottom left or right or just pull the lower radiatior hose gravity will naturally take out the fluid out of the block!
