Why are the inside panel light and park and stop, backup lights are out
Have you been driving in heavy rain lately? When I lived in Florida, my '03 PT would regularly have water get inside the rear taillights and shatter the hot bulbs. If this is happening to you, residual water could also be causing an electrical short. While this may not be the cause of your particular short, it only takes a few minutes to remove both rear taillights to examine the bulbs inside. Each of the rear taillight housings are held on by a single screw and a couple of clips. Use a standard screwdriver to remove the screw and make certain not to use excessive force on the clips. If the bulbs are indeed shattered, carefully remove the glass and dry everything completely before installing replacements. I eventually upgraded to LED bulbs because they do not get hot enough to shatter when water splashes on them. LEDs are more expensive, but cheaper than a ticket.
How many miles do I have to drive a PT cruiser to reset the check engine light
Thermostat Stuck Open--you put it in a pot on the stove to
confirm that?
You replaced it & did not do the testing & look at data, to confirm
that was the problem & is it heating up now to 205 to 213 hot?
No driven miles at all
No problems --you won't have the check engine (MIL Lamp)
on--- when ALL Monitors run
YOU NEVER go to inspection--- until you drive with a professional
scan tool--- on the vehicle, to make sure all 8 Emission Monitors
have run -------OR YOU WILL FAIL-------
The vehicle needs some diagnostic work, checking, road testing,
component testing, whatever is needed
There obviously are problems, yet to be found & corrected
BEFORE you should even be using it
Car dies while driving
There was a know problem on some PT cruisers for shutting down intermittently and some shutting down and unable to restart. There was a wiring harness on the rear side of the engine block. you have to access it from under the car. this harness can come loose and rub on the axle shaft running from the transmission to the Right front tire. The harness contains wires for the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) if it has been rubbing it can wear through the wire insulation grounding the circuit or cutting the circuit completely. That would be the first place I would look.
The right timing marks for a 04 2.4L G
There are holes drilled into the cam gears, one for each.... you use either a bolt that fits snug or something you can find that fits snug in there and line the gears up with the corresponding holes in the timing chain housing. then you put the bolts in and they are timed and held in place.
the dots on the bottom should line up straight up and down. theres one on the timing chain housing as well as the crank sprocket. weather you can get them straight up is up to you. if you get it wrong youre car will be slower than molasses.

Got a p0700 code and engine check light flashes
I've had all sorts of weird transmission problems, but not this one. My cheat sheet says that code P0700 means your TCM (transmission control module) is having problems. It is located behind a splash panel in the left front fenderwell. Quick & easy to remove, but it looks expensive to replace with a new one. You may want to first try pulling and cleaning it to see if the error is being caused by dirt or moisture. A $5 can of Wire Dryer can be your best friend. Disconnect your battery before pulling the part and try to avoid any static discharge. Erase the code after you reinstall it. If it comes back again, you may want to check an online auction for a good deal. I did a quick check and they want about $100 for a salvaged one and $150 for "remanufactured".
