Hi!!
First you got to pinpoint where the leak is coming from. Place a couple of sheets of newspaper under vehicle, wait 30 min. to an hour and look under the vehicle at the newspaper sheets, where you see transmission fluid, look up, that's where the leak is.
The most common places where the transmission leaks are:
- Transmission fluid pan,
- transmission cooling lines (there are 2 steel lines that carry fluid to a cooler coil in front of the radiator and back.) due to the location, going over a bump or a rock may kink, bend or puncture one of the lines.
- Transmission front or rear seals.
You are talking about a tube, I assume you are referring to one of the cooling lines. If it is leaking at one of the terminals, usually at the transmission fluid cooler in front of the radiator, some times just tightening a little will take care of the problem. If the line is punctured, remove the line and take it to a hardware store like ACE Hardware or similar to have them install a pressure fitting. If you are to DIY, no need to remove the line. It can be done from under the vehicle. Either way, the cost of the repair will be about $10. If you take it to a Shop, God knows how much it'll be!!
Have a Merry Christmas!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.
