From the description you gave it sounds like the transmission is dropping out of overdrive. Instead of asking you a bunch of pointless questions I would recommend biting the bullet on this one and take it to a reputable Transmission shop. They can scan the transmission with a scanner and would likely be able to tell you the problem for less than a $150.00 dollars.
Troubleshoot shift cable stuck in drive in a 2000 sebring
Locate the cable on the transmission and see if it is still attached to the shift linkage. If it is, see if you can move the linkage by hand. If you can then you know the cable is broke and sometimes the linkage will rust and break too, so if the cable is just hanging there that could be the other possibility.
Brake lights
could either be a blown fuse or a bad brake light switch,im leaning toward the brake light switch,it is mounted under the dashboard above the brake pedal. hope this helps

I dont believe it to be your computer now a relay sounds like stuck open these are simple to diy yourself under hood theres a fuse box relay pannel find the relay marked fuel pump now check other relays to see if the numbers match switch relays by pulling out basically trading spots if problem goes away just need relay replacement
Also have your car taken in for a free inspection could be a bad fuel pump or alternator getting ready to pass on check always basic things first spark ignition fuel and exhaust if runs you know one of these are failing do to maintenance
