1998 plymouth breeze: Engine
EGR system failure. The negative battery cable must be removed first. The EGR is the system under the hood, between the fuse box and the block. The TCM Looks kind of like a radiator, and needs to be removed to access the EGR valve. It has two vaccumn hoses connecting it to the vaccuum system, make sure you keep track of where they connect to. Loosena nd removed the bolts holding the EGR, and gently remove the EGR valve. Remove the old gasket and replace with a new one, install the new EGR and finger tighten the bolts. Make sure the vaccuum hoses are placed back on (label them if needed), once you have ensure that you have everything installed properly, then tighten the bolts on the EGR to 200 ft. lbs. Re-install the TCM and connectors, reconnect teh battery and you should be good to go.
Location of thermastat
Standing in front of your car, follow the left top radiator hose. Where it is bolted to the block is the thermostat. Drain your radiator first to prevent ecological hazards, and then remove both bolts, they are 1/2 I believe, not sure on that. After removing the bolts, you should be able to pull the assembly from the block and remove the thermostat. The Breeze came with a 195 degree thermostat as a standard. clean bothe ends where the thermostat fits and place the gasketbetween the thermostat and the hose fitting, then bolt it back on the block to 22nm 16 ft. lbs. with a torq wrench.
Where is the battery located
On a 98 Plymouth Breeze, I think you access the battery from one of the front wheel wells because it's located under one of the fenders. I'm not sure which side it's on, but you should be able to get to it by turning your wheels all the way in one direction.
