Valve noise on acceleration

If its just a little noise, like one or 2 valves, then you may need a valve job. If its very clattery, then may be oil starving, check oil level. If the oil pressure is low, then there may be crank bearing issues that would be costly to repair...Chris

Engine fan doesnt engage

It's very common for the temperature sensor to go bad on these cars. A quick fix is to pull the connector to the sensor. It is a single wire, the sensor is under the distributor. With the wire pulled, the fan will come on and stay on all the time. This way you won't overheat. Replace the sensor and you've fixed the problem...Chris, owner of 5 of these Australian Capris...

As I let off my throttle petal, my 1993 Mercury Capri 1.6 (non-turbo) decelerates instantly, in a jerky action. I there an adjustable regulator for this problem? Thanks, J Kelley, FL

Your throttle position sensor could be bad. Try finding a used one at a junk yard, they are +$100 new if you can find one...Chris

1993 mercury capri heater will only blow cold air

11_13_2012_2_23_32_am.jpg The linkage under the dash sometimes breaks, the picture shows the most common part that breaks. You can see this from the drivers side, its a back breaker to get in there to see it, trust me!!! You'll have to find a junkyard Capri to get this part if its broke, OR... Look at the picture near the 'A'. That plastic arm is supposed to move like that double-ended arrow line shows. That is what does not move to give you heat when the part breaks. In a pinch, you can tie a string to the part, and run the sring where you can get to it from inside teh car. Just a tug, and you've got heat, until you can find the broken part. Good luck...Chris

Need info.on how to put it back in time. the

Look at the repair manual at http://techcapri.home.comcast.net.There is too much to describe here...if you try to do this yourself, just follow the directions in the book...while you are at it replace the water pump at the same time, they all go bad eventually and you can get to it easily when all the stuff is removed to change the belt...good luck...Chris

1993 capri right retractable light will not come

Bad motor or dirty motor contacts is the usual issue. Remove the motor and take 3 screws out to take the motor apart. Clean the round copper area until it shines, then reassemble. Make sure the crank that attaches the motor to the headlight is in the same position, or your up and down positions will be wrong...good luck...Chris
