2001 Volvo V70 Questions & Answers
2001 Volvo V70 starts but when put in gear and given gas, it dies
This could be your IAC valve, or idle air valve which is supposed to open fully when the car is put into drive. If not, engine will stall out. Clean throttle body, as well as the IAC valve with carb cleaner. Turn IAC upside down so carb cleaner does not enter the body of the valve or motor end of business.
What is the stock turbocharger on a 2001 Volvo V70
bigger is not better when it comes to turbo units as Leyland found out when they fitted a turbo to a 690 diesel that resulted in the destruction of the engines and damage to the company reputation of a reliable engine manufacturer
Subsequent engineering found that a much smaller turbo produced more power without the destroying the engine
The turbo fitted to the engine originally is the correct unit for the maximum power that the engine mechanicals can handle
What you have to do is to ensure that the variable vanes of the turbo are working correctly and there are no boost pressures lost from intercooler leaks and loose hoses
Run the fault codes to determine sensor and actuators for the existing turbo are fully operational
Volvo V70 t5 Shift to Transmission cable broken
Seems excessive for just a cable unless the transmission has to be removed and dismantled.
I suggest you check with the dealer for costs and parts availability and the dealer price would typically be the most expensive quote for your guidance.
Then you should ask at least a couple of local transmission specialists who would typically be 30 - 40% cheaper.
