Does the vehicle crank for extended period of time upon first starting? If so the fuel pump needs replacing.

Hi,You can get new keys from any Jeep dealership.You'll need your ownership and the VIN number (vehicle identification number) That number is located under the windshield on the drivers side bottom corrner.Your best bet is call first to check if anyother information is needed.Good luck hope this has helped,if so please don't forget to rate me......

Jeeps, Chryslers, and Dodges are notorious for having a bad ignition fuse causing the mechanic to not be able to read the diagnostic trouble codes. If this mechanic gave you the car back and didn't attempt to fix this I would find a new mechanic.

Question edited to what I think you meant to say, and get rid of the 'run-on' sentence. You need to reset the security system because you disconnected the battery which powers the immobilizer. Press the power door-lock switch on the keyless entry fob. Close the driver's side door. Leave all doors closed for about 16 seconds until the Vehicle Security Light on the instrument cluster stops flashing quickly. When the light flashes at a slower rate, this signifies that the system has been reset and rearmed.

I had a problem similar to that described. I took my cherokee to my local Jeep dealer who having charged around £1000 sent me away with the a warning light still showing. Several independant units advised I should dispose of the vehicle because this intermittand issue is common. Finally I fould a Jeep dealer with a technician who actually understood the cause of the intermittant issue. He removed, cleaned and refitted all the earth (ground) conections to the chassis and the problem was cured. Time to complete 1 hour! !0K miles later all is still good. A DIY job if only I had known.

This may sound a little off the wall, but try it, it's cheap and easy and has been known to work occasionally on this problem.
Remove the gas cap, and carefully clean all the threads in your filler pipe well, with a rag,paper towel, or something similar. Now clean all the threads and rubber gasket/"o" ring whatever it uses for good seal on the cap. Now apply a good coat of "vaseline" to the threads, and "o" ring/ gasket. Don't get too carried away with amount, but enough to assist in making a good seal. Put gas cap back in and tighten as required, and see what happens. Sometimes a little vaseline to aid in sealing is all it needs, so you may get lucky, and it doesn't cost anything to try it.

Hi Joko,What you are describing is a failure of a main circuit. The first thing you should check is yo make sure that your battery is in good condition and that the cables are clean and tight. Let me know if yu find anything wrong there. Then there may be another main circuit problem. Check all of the fuses in your fuse block in the engine compartment. If any of these fuses are blown, it will usually cause several things to not work. If you find any fuses blown, DON'T REPLACE IT YET. Let me know WHICH fuse is blown and I can help you find out why it blew so you can get the problem fixed.Get back to me on this and we will continue.-Dave (dttech)

Check to see if you have coolant in cylinder #3 by taking out the plug and looking at the tip.

Try cleaning the throttle body by spraying a throttle cleaner into the throttle body.

Replace the fan relay switch. The dealer will charge you 400 to pull the bumper off, or you can buy the part for 45 and cut the hole in the plastic near the passenger headlight assembly and replace it yourself. There are instructions for this procedure on the web somewhere. I have had this problem more than once with my 02 GC V6.

Hi, I've not come across that particular symbol before, but anything showing a key is usually about the ignition systems. Since it's not starting, my guess would be that your key isn't disarming the immobiliser.? Have you got another key for that vehicle which you could try instead.? Best of luck.

the lights began flashing intermittently on and off ???? . Wouldn't be a relay problem , a stuck relay the light's would be on all the time , wouldn't be able to shut them off . I would think a control module or secruity system . The BCM - body control module controls the lights . The Headlamp switch is a input to the BCM , the BCM does energize relays to turn on the lights . More then likely the automatic headlamp light sensor which is an input to the BCM could be the problem . Taking the vehicle to a qualified repair shop an having the BCM checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is your best bet , Don't take it to autozone , advance etc... as they can not access these codes .
