When to replace control arm bushings

Usually when the bushings go bad you will hear a heavy clunking noise when breaking, full lock turning, and or going over bumps. Its best to replace in pairs and check for the ball joint if there is play or torn boot you should replace the whole arm. Hope that helps!

I took my car to Wal Mart to get the oil changed.

Make sure the transmission oil level is ok. Low oil level will cause an automatic transmission to slip. This would have nothing to do with changing the engine oil.

2001 audi tt wires thru fusebox

If all your gauges and sensors radio and Cetera is working I wouldn't try guessing you can try falling the wires back and see what they go to but that's practically impossible go get you a wiring diagram book for your vehicle and if I could think of the website you could spend like 30 bucks and have full blueprint diagrams of your vehicle for 12 months online

On my 2001 Audi TT on the radio display says phone and I have no radio. What do I do?

If you know someone with VCDS (diagnostic software and adapter), maybe a module is coded wrong, and 'phone' needs to be removed in the coding.

I am renewing rear brake pads on my audi tt 2001 but how do i get the caliper piston to move back in, i have tried to screw it in but it does not move, help thanks.

You are right in attempting to screw the caliper piston back in! But you will need a special tool to assist you though, it locates into the 2 holes in your caliper piston and it will look similar to the one in the picture: am-renewing-rear-brake-pads-audi-tt-2001-y4qsuauzhtopzytajuuczk2p-5-0.jpeg

The engine runs very lumpy at low revs but clears above 2500 revs can anyone help?

Start with scan. Sounds like fuel filter or pressure regulator. Check vacuum and throttle body. O2 sensor, I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/howard_977676954994c5b2

What are the probable causes of DTC P1297?

Fault code P1297 may be set if the car is driven under load or revved up and then returned to idle. Fuel mixtures may go lean as well. If these symptoms occur, check the pressure relief valve in the crankcase breather system. If the valve is NOT moving freely, you found the problem. Replace it.

The engine management icon has come on car runs fine

Engine warning lights are programmed to go on at service intervals usually, they cannot tell that your engine is okay, they are switched of by a mechanic/technician after a service has been completed. Whilst your engine may be running fine it is wise to have a service carried out, it will increase the longevity of the engine. when cars are built the service intervals are set at mileages known to be key to maintaining the unit in top condition, preventing a fast mechanical decline. I cannot exaggerate the importance of regular servicing irrespective of how well a vehicle is running. It is why regularly serviced vehicles are worth so much more than others of a similar age/mileage.

I have changed engine oil and fitted a new oil filter,How can i turn off the engine management icon off.

Oil an filter have nothing to do with engine light . The light is for the OBD2 emission standards , you car is polluting 1.5 times greater then the EPA allows . If the light is on there are DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the PCM / ECM -engine computer ! This is in America an it sounds like you mite be in the UK . We don't talk like that over here , fitted a new oil filter ! We would say put on or installed a new filter ! If in fact you are in the UK the light being still means there is a problem an a DTC is set .

How do i change the oil light bulb on the dash seems difficult.

Yes it is complicated, You remove as much of the dash cowling as necessary to be able to then remove the gages as one unit from the dash then remove the bulb from the back of it if it is visible but if not then proceed to disassemble the gage cluster to get at the bulb. Enjoy yourself
