On my 2001 Audi TT on the radio display says phone and I have no radio. What do I do?

If you know someone with VCDS (diagnostic software and adapter), maybe a module is coded wrong, and 'phone' needs to be removed in the coding.

What are the probable causes of DTC P1297?

Fault code P1297 may be set if the car is driven under load or revved up and then returned to idle. Fuel mixtures may go lean as well. If these symptoms occur, check the pressure relief valve in the crankcase breather system. If the valve is NOT moving freely, you found the problem. Replace it.

I am renewing rear brake pads on my audi tt 2001 but how do i get the caliper piston to move back in, i have tried to screw it in but it does not move, help thanks.

You are right in attempting to screw the caliper piston back in! But you will need a special tool to assist you though, it locates into the 2 holes in your caliper piston and it will look similar to the one in the picture: am-renewing-rear-brake-pads-audi-tt-2001-y4qsuauzhtopzytajuuczk2p-5-0.jpeg

I got an Audi TT

  1. Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".
  2. Press the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again, otherwise the radio will consider "1000" to be the code.
  3. Use Preset buttons 1 ... 4 to enter the four-digit code number from your radio card. Preset button 1 corresponds to the first digit, Preset button 2 corresponds to the second digit, etc. Each press of the button increments the number by 1.
  4. Once the code shown on the display is correct, press the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until the word "SAFE" appears in the display, then release the buttons.
  5. The radio should unlock and be usable shortly afterwards.
  6. If an incorrect code is entered, the word "SAFE" appears, first flashing and then continuously. You can repeat the above steps to unlock the radio once more, the number of attempts will be shown in the display. If an incorrect code is entered again, you radio will be locked for about one hour. After one hour - the radio must stay on and the key must remain in the ignition lock - if the display goes out, the you can repeat the above procedure to unlock again. The cycle - two attempts, one hour lock-up - still applies.

How do i change the oil light bulb on the dash seems difficult.

Yes it is complicated, You remove as much of the dash cowling as necessary to be able to then remove the gages as one unit from the dash then remove the bulb from the back of it if it is visible but if not then proceed to disassemble the gage cluster to get at the bulb. Enjoy yourself

The oil warning light is not visible on dash, can anyone help?

Most often a bulb out. Disassemble instrument panel, match and and replace bulb form auto parts store. If bulb is good then replace oil pressure sending unit often located close to the oil filter, on the engine block.

I have changed engine oil and fitted a new oil filter,How can i turn off the engine management icon off.

Oil an filter have nothing to do with engine light . The light is for the OBD2 emission standards , you car is polluting 1.5 times greater then the EPA allows . If the light is on there are DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the PCM / ECM -engine computer ! This is in America an it sounds like you mite be in the UK . We don't talk like that over here , fitted a new oil filter ! We would say put on or installed a new filter ! If in fact you are in the UK the light being still means there is a problem an a DTC is set .

The engine management icon has come on car runs fine

Engine warning lights are programmed to go on at service intervals usually, they cannot tell that your engine is okay, they are switched of by a mechanic/technician after a service has been completed. Whilst your engine may be running fine it is wise to have a service carried out, it will increase the longevity of the engine. when cars are built the service intervals are set at mileages known to be key to maintaining the unit in top condition, preventing a fast mechanical decline. I cannot exaggerate the importance of regular servicing irrespective of how well a vehicle is running. It is why regularly serviced vehicles are worth so much more than others of a similar age/mileage.
