Dashboard warning system indicates brake light failure.
Left rear brake light does not work when brake pedal depressed.
Bulb checked and definitely not "burnt out". Fuses checked and definitely not "burnt out". (All 5 amp fuses checked and OK)
Car is 1999 A4 Saloon.
Any ideas?
take the bulb back out have someone sit in car apply brake get your self a circuit tester and check to see if this circuit is carrying efficient 12 volt current! some times in cold weather these bulbs get hot with long period of breaking and when released condensate and rust begins and you get what you have perhaps bad socket! this would be a ideal location to begin and probably end,

I went to change the oil on a 1999 audi a4 and without thinking i drained the transmission fluid instead. I now need ot know what type of transmission fluid to get and how to refill it.
LISTEN CLOSE. THERE IS A PLUG ON PAN. REMOVE IT. WITH A SYRINGE TYPE CANISTER YOU NEED TO INJECT THE FLUID INTO IT UNTIL IT STARTS TO COME OUT. THEN CAREFULLY START VEHICLE AND INJECT ANOTHER 3/4 QUART UNLESS IT STARTS TO COME OUT OR EVEN A QUART.LET IT RUN FOR 5 MINUTES THEN CONTINUE TO INSERT UNTIL IT OVERFLOWS AND TIGHTEN THE PLUG BACK TO THE PAN. i WOULD ONLY USE AUDI VOLKSWAGON FLUID AND YES IT CAN RUN $14 TO $18 A LITER

audi a4 turbo automatic 1800,1999.oil and water mixed together causeing grey/brown foam to be forced out somewhere and hissing noise.did not try to restart engine in case of further damage.
That is not true oil and water being mixed can come from many different places. Such as a bad radiator which would cause transmission oil to mix with the water also alot of audi's have a water cooled oil cooler which are a very common cause of oil being mixed with with water. These type of oil coolers are located under you oil filter. They have water lines hooked to them which cools the oil and when they go bad the water and oil will mix. So dont be convinced that its your head gaskets it could be but not as likely. You can pressure test your oil cooler to see if this is the problem just romove it an plug one off the inlet or with rubber plug which can be purchased at you local hardware store (I found mine at ace hardware in there specialty drawers where they have all there bolts) then attach a air hose to the other outlet pressureize the system and place it in a bucket of water. this should tell you if the oil cooler is bad but be careful not to ove3r pressureize the cooler this could damage it and caust it to leak. 15 to 30 psi should be plenty.

1999 audi a4 airbag light just came on and stays on?
When the airbag light (SRS) is on or blinks it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called the clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the steering wheel while maintaining a mechanical connection to the airgag mounted on the steering wheel, to replace this part you must disarm the airbag system and remove the steering wheel, this requires a special steering wheel puller tool and that you disarm the airbag system before you start the work, to do this disconnect the battery negative cable for 1 hour prior.

I have Audi A4 1.8t B5 Model (1999 year)
Diagnostics read P0303 and P1300 Cyl 3 Misfire
P0303 = Cyl 3 misfire
P1300 = ignition system or misfire
Idles at 930 RPM
Can Provide trim data if needed, however:
while running, removing cyl. 1, 2, 4 there is a clicking, meaning the electricity IS going from the coil to the plug.
while running, removing cyl. 3 results in NO clicking and NO charge reaching the plug.
Plugs are good, coils are good.
replaced valve cover gasket first, like an idiot.
I WANT TO WORK ON MY CAR, FIX IT, AND DRIVE IT.
please help?
-c.
CODE P1300 IS MISFIRE DETECTED FUEL PROBLEM. WHICH MEAN 3 FUEL INJECTOR IS CLOGGED UP.HAVE FUEL INJECTORS CLEAN AND CHANGE FUEL FILTER.

looking for fuse location for cigarette lighter?
For 1999 Audi A4 the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand steering wheel vehicle). On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram.

I need a diagram or lay out for the relays behind the dash board as to find the A/C Clutch Relay.
Not sure if this helps much because they seem to have just put it into any open location according to the diagrams I have. Hope this helps...
