Where can I get a basic wiring diagram/pinout for a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix? I'm trying to install a new dash unit and cannot find a basic pinout. Thanks!
Go to www.crutchfield.com.
On the bottom of the page there is a link for product support. On the next page, type "2005 Grand Prix" in the search box and hit enter. The top link shows an image and pinout on models with Monsoon sound systems, the second link for ones without.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

2005 pontiac grand prix -- my trunk will not open when i press the release button on the key fob. there is no key hole for manual release. t also will not open from inside the car. the lights flash & i can hear an electrical click (solenoid?) when i hit the release. however, the latch does not come undone. is this a simple fuse?
If you will turn the ignition on, press & hold the door lock release button to the left . . . . viola!

Hi All,
My wife has a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Recently the check engine light came on. I took the car up to Auto Zone to have them check the code in the computer. It read back Catalytic Converter. The guy at Auto Zone said it could be spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, or either one of the o2 sensors.
Today, the wife started complaining about her mpg being way down. However, I have not witnessed this personally because I do not drive the car daily...
I have had some work done recently to it at the dealership (non-related - had the heads up display fixed) and called back to speak with the same person that helped us. Giving them the same info I am giving you all, they seem to think it is the ignition coil. They are willing to diagnose the problem for free but you know how these things go... they say it's one thing, then the next thing you know you have replaced the whole ignition and exhaust system.
Also, the car has never, to the best of my knowledge, misfired and still seems to have plenty of power and no odd noises or smells.
I am thinking these symptoms sounds like an o2 sensor but I just wanted to check and see what you all think.
Tuneup time is around 90,000 to 100,000 miles. If it were to ignition coil you would feel the misfire. Plugs, wires, airfilter and fuel filter should be changed before cat is. Plugs will tell the story.

i have 2005 pontiac grand prix the code p0420 shows up ,Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold. now would i have to replace the converter or just maybe the o2 sensors that may have gone bad to cause this
okay, if you replace the converter then i would also replace the o2 sensors along with it,so, replace the sensors first and reset the light and this may take care of problem,if not ,nothing lost then replace the cat, your just doing it in two steps instead of all at once,75% of the time its bad o2s,

My Driver Information Center (DIC) stopped working in my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix. The fuse seems to be OK since the other lights are working in the instrument panel. The DIC isn't showing anything. Any advice on what the problem is? (BTW - I just had the heater core replaced, and thought that the DIC wasn't hooked back up, but it seems to be hooked up. Thanks!
REMOVE THE DIC CENTER SEE IF IT IS GETTING POWER.SHAKE WIRES SEE IF DIC CONTROL WILL LIGHT UP WITH IGNITION ON ENGINE OFF.IF POWER GOING TO DIC CENTER AND SHAKE WIRES YOU STILL DONT SEE THE OIL DISPLAY LIGHT UP.DIC CONTROL COULD BE FAULTY.

Please tell me how to change it step by step or if theres a diagram that will help me.
1. Remove the drive belt.
2. remove the high pressure line from the pump. (the metal line with a nut threaded into the pump body)
3. There are 3 Bolts holding the pump to the bracket. You access these with a deep well socket through the holes in the pump pulley. They should be 15 millimeter headed bolts. Remove these.
4. Have a drain pan handy and remove the return hose from the pump reservoir, then hold over pan, remove cap, and let fluid drain.
5. You will have to rent, borrow, or buy a power steering pump pulley puller/installer. Follow the instructions that come with the kit.
6. Reverse the removal steps to install the new pump. Then fill the reservoir with new fluid, start engine and fill to the full mark on the caps dipstick.
Hope This Helps You..........

where are the ac recharge ports for a 2005 pontiac grand prix
The high side is located in the engine compartment, passenger side aginst the firewall. The low side is trickier. it is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment in the front by the headlamps. Easiest way to get to it is to have a lift handy. If lift not available be ready to contort your arm up behind the headlamps.
