I had same issue with my 2001 Windstar. To take the pointer needle back to its position without removing the Cluster, you will need to:
- Remove the head lights and dimming switch together with the bezel (left side of steering column). It is snap-fit, so just pull it softly from the edges
- From there, you will be able to peek and see the prndl and the red portion of the pointer stucked
- With a long soft stick (I cut a thin long portion from a manila folder, but you can also use a plastic flat stick or any thin card board material that you can cut like from cereal box) insert it into the prndl small opening between the Cluster lens and bezel to push the needle.
- If the pointer doesn't move at all and your paper stick is bended, it might be pretty stuck (due to the countinuous pushing while placing the shift is P). For that, you can use a wood stick, like a chopstick, to un-stock it. Same thing, insert it trough the opening. Do not insert it all the way, as it will not fit. This is just to unstock the pointer with the chopstick tip.
- Once it is unstuck, get back to the paper stick and now insert it again and push the pointer up until it gets back to 0 by itself.

It is higly possible that your pointer will be bend at this point (again due to the continuous pushing of the shift at P). So you might want to consider removing the Cluster lens to bend it back straight.

Important: There are several comments that it is due to some ground connections issues on the cluster, which might be true. I haven't try finding it. Your pointers will eventually jump crazy again some day. In my case this happens 2 times a year (for the last 3yrs). If this happens again, hit the top of the panel hard with your hand and the pointers will jump back.
Due to this, it will be up to you if you want to remove or replace the cluster. I didn't find it worthy.
Good luck!

Cruise control fuse location for 2000 ford

Cruise control fuse location for 2000 ford windstar

Hi Will:
Keep in mind that Cruise Control dont work if your speedometor have some problem. The fuse diagram could be find in the Windstar Owners Manual, I suggest to check in Passenger Compartment Fuse Box... position 10, 10AMP, for Speed Control Module, and position 14, 10AMP for Transmission Overdrive Cancel Switch.

Sometimes, this was found to caused by an all too common defect in the Windstar. The brake master cylinder leaks out of the area where the brake switch screws into it from the bottom. The switch has control wiring going to it which feeds various other systems. Ford makes a "Brake Repair" package to solve all of this. It only costs $ 20.00. It comes with a new switch and a wiring pigtail adapter. Simply remove the air filter to get at the master cylinder and remove the old brake switch.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

This is a repair that should not be attempted by a novice! Put the van in the air, remove the front wheels, remove the cotter keys from the tie rod ends and remove the nuts and separate from the spindle,Remove the Power steering lines from the rack and pinion unit,Remove the single bolt that attaches the rack to the steering shaft,Remove the two large steering rack mounting bolts from the engine/transaxle cradle, with support under the engine/transaxle cradle remove the rear mounting bolts slowly lower the cradle slowly to gain access to remove rack assembly and reverse for installation. NOTE: Install new seals on the power steering lines and when removing outer tie rods from the rack count how many turns it takes to remove the end and put it back on the same amount of turns. Refill the system with proper fluid and have the vehicle Front end aligned!!!!!!!!

2000 FORD WINDSTAR PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM)

I HAVE A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR THAT THE DRIVERS WINDOW WOULDN'T ROLL DOWN AND THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER WASN'T WORKING. ALSO THE FRONT A/C IS NOT COOLING AS DESIRED. SO BEFORE TAKING IT SOMEWHERE AND PAY $$$ JUST TO FIND OUT WHATS WRONG, I CHECKED THE FUSES. I NOTICED THERE WAS A FUSE MISSING. IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN MISSING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN JANUARY 2009. I PUT A FUSE IN THERE BECAUSE I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WASN'T ONE THERE.

COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS THE PATS (PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM) FUSE. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN WOULDN'T START AND THE THEFT LIGHT IS BLINKING CONSTANTLY. THE HEADLIGHTS WON'T POWER DOWN. NOT REALIZING WHAT EXACTLY I HAD DONE TO THE CAR - I JUST KEPT CHECKING BOTH FUSE PANELS AND I WAS FLOORED AS TO WHY AFTER I JUST CHECK MY FUSES TO SEE WHY THE WINDOW WONT ROLL DOWN - THAT THE VAN WONT EVEN START.

I HAVE COME TO THIS CONCLUSION........

I PUT A FUSE IN A PLACE THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD EITHER REMOVED PURPOSELY OR THERE WAS JUST NOT ONE EVER IN THERE. I DON'T KNOW. BY INSERTING THE FUSE, I GAVE POWER TO THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM. MY CAR FREAKED AND THOUGHT IT HAD BEEN STOLEN. NOW THE BATTERY IS WORN OUT COMPLETELY AND IM JUST STUCK HERE. MY NEIGHBORS KEEP TRYING TO HELP BUT THEY ARE ONLY MAKING THINGS WORSE.

IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT THE FORD FACTORY PATS (PASSIVE ANT-THEFT SYSTEM) AND HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND DO YOU THINK I COULD HAVE MESSED UP ANYTHING ELSE?

not knowing what the prior owner did, you do have a problem, you might try to remove that fuse, disconnect the battery and re-try it, if still NO-START and the THEFT light is flashing it because it lost memory for the key code and will have to be recoded at your dealer
