Stalling

Try cleaning the throttle body and butterfly plate. If that doesnt work, replace the IAC (idle air control) motor.

My car makes a bad growling noise. Everyone said

WHEEL BEARING USUALLY STARTS MAKING A ROARING TYPE NOISE WHICH USUALLY GETS LOUDER THE FASTER YOU DRIVE, SOMETIMES THEY WILL BE LOOSE , TO CHECK JACK UP THAT WHEEL AND GRAB TOP AND BOTTOM OF TIRE AND SHAKE, IF THERE IS MOVEMENT, TRY TO GET SOMEONE TO ROCK TIRE FOR YPU AND WATCH WHERE AXLE GOES INTO CENTER OF BEARING AND SEE IF AXLE IS MOVING WITH TIRE MOVEMENT AND SPINDLE REMAINS STATIONARY, THEN IT IS BAD BEARING, OR SOMETIMES THERE WILL BE NO MOVEMENT, THEN BLOCK REAR WHEELS AND RUN CAR WITH THAT WHEEL IN AIR AND SEE IF YOU HEAR NOISE, GOOD LUCK.

Rear brake locks up at slow speeds on 2001 cavalier

i would have the rear brake limiter mechanism checked first as this device regulates brake pressure so it is equal to both back wheels, if this is ok i'd check that the wheel cylinders aren't sticking and that the brake shoe assembly has been replaced properly

2001 Cavalier passenger rear brake locks up at slow speeds, shakes at higher speeds, mechanics changed drums 3 times, keeps coming back

I think it is time to find an accredited brake specialist . At the best with a hub it may be bad wheel bearings but I consider it a problem with the mechanics and their lack of commitment to fixing your problem

I have changed the Throttle positioning sensor, accelerator cable and the car still wants to surge when warm. Do I need to change the shift cable??

You shouldn't have been installing any parts You should have diagnosed or found out if you had a problem & what is was ,through some type of testing Your best to stop & let a shop continue on Every item you talk about, has nothing to do with making any change, because of temp change, are you even thinking things through logically ! There could be six or eight reasons or combination of things, that would cause an unsteady or incorrect idle condition,if that is your question

Overheats, smoke from TOP of engine, blows cold air from heater

suspect a blown hose, heater hose probably behind the engine. now when you fill it back up you have to bleed the air out of the system and the bleeder valve is usually a brass screw close to the area of the thermostat... find the leak first and foremost or catastrophic engine damage can and will occur
