My 2002 Montana rack and pinion is leaking from a large nut on the bottom, is this a threaded nut with a seal that can be replaced? Or is it a pressed on cover? I would rather not repla e the rack.
If the steering is working fine, otherwise, I don't think you should have to replace the rack. It's possible the leak is higher up and just happens to be running down to that point and dripping off the nut. I don't know much about this, but what I would do is jack up the front, go under and clean everything off really well, make sure you have lots of light so you can see everything up in there. Start engine, crank the wheel back and forth a bit, go under and see if the leak is coming from higher up. If you confirm that it's coming from the nut then put a pan underneath and pull the nut. Hopefully, if there's a bad seal there, you should be able to see it.
Good luck to you.

The AC may stop working due to a refrigerant leak from the condenser - this is not uncommon in Montanas built between 2001 and 2003. GM has developed and updated condenser and mounting bracket to help prevent the replacement condenser from failing in the same manner.
I'm not sure why the dye isn't showing.
Usual cost of the fix is around $550.

I would start with the cheapest fix first. Change the air filter and then replace the coolant temp sensor. Then perform another ODBII scan. Let the scan be your guide to any repairs to avoid buying parts you don't need.
Passenger side front turn signal/DRL do not work.
Dear Alex,
The problem is in the bulb, or the socket, or the wiring to these.
Whenever a turn signal flashes fast, know that one of the bulbs is not working.
You have already identified the problem as being the front one. Problem could be the hot wire, or the ground wire, or the ground connection to this bulb.
Start by taking a tester to the hot wire, and see if it is receiving electrical impulses when the turn signal is on.
( It probably is, unless the car has been in a wreck and has been improperly repaired.)
Then check the socket or the wires to is and see if the bulb is grounded.
I suspect the ground is defective, and either a new socket or a repair to the ground wire should fix you rights up.
God bless your efforts.
2002 pontiac montana minivan cranks over but wont start sometimes
Robert, It is good you are going to have van scanned for trouble codes, as this could tell you the fault. This is a symptom of a failing/weak fuel pump, but it could be a few things causing starting issue. Have scanned, diagnosed and estimate for repair. Good luck.
