Bleeding The Brake System Bleeding When any part of the hydraulic system has been disconnected for repair or replacement, air enters the lines causing spongy pedal action (because air can be compressed and brake fluid cannot). To correct this condition, it is necessary to bleed the hydraulic system to ensure all air is purged.
Always begin bleeding the brake system from the furthest wheel cylinder or caliper from the master cylinder; the right rear.
NOTE: The right side of the vehicle is the passenger side. The sides of the vehicle are determined from the driver's perspective. This reference is taken from sitting in the driver's seat, facing forward.
Maintain a full reservoir during the bleeding operation. Never use brake fluid that has been drained from the hydraulic system, or from an open container, no matter how clean it is. Always use brake fluid from a new, sealed container. The front and rear reservoir will drain as the front or rear brakes are bled.

  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. Place the vehicle in PARK (automatic) or REVERSE (manual) with the engine OFF, and apply the parking brake. Chock the rear wheels to prevent vehicle movement. NOTE: Wheel chocks may be purchased at your local auto parts store, or a block of wood cut into wedges may be used.
  2. Loosen the lugnuts from all four wheels, but do not remove the lugnuts until the vehicle is raised and supported properly.
  3. Use an approved jack and raise the vehicle high enough to place jack stands under all four corners of the vehicle. Place the jack stands under the frame or axles of the vehicle. Ensure that the front of the vehicle is raised higher than the rear.
  4. Remove the wheels from the vehicle.
  5. Clean all dirt from around the master cylinder fill cap. Remove the cap and fill the master cylinder with brake fluid until the level is within 1/4 in. (6mm) of the top edge of the reservoir.
  6. Clean the bleeder screws at all four wheels. The bleeder screws are located on the back of the brake backing plate (drum brakes) and at the top of the brake calipers (disc brakes).
  7. Attach a length of rubber hose over the bleeder screw and place the other end of the hose in a plastic jar.
  8. Have an assistant place and hold pressure on the brake pedal.
  9. Open the bleeder screw 1/2 - 3/4 turn. As the bleeder is opened, the brake pedal will travel to the floor. Have the assistant inform you when the pedal has bottomed out. NOTE: Do not remove pressure from the brake pedal once it is bottomed out. No movement to the pedal should occur until the bleeder is closed and the assistant is made aware of the situation. Failure to do this will draw more air into the system.
  10. Close the bleeder screw and tell your assistant remove their foot from the brake pedal. Continue this process to purge all air from the system.
  11. When bubbles cease to appear at the end of the bleeder hose, tighten the bleeder screw and remove the hose.
  12. After bleeding each wheel, check the master cylinder fluid level and add fluid accordingly.
  13. Repeat the bleeding operation at the remaining three wheels, ending with the one closet to the master cylinder. The pattern is, RR, LR, RF, LF.
  14. Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level and install the reservoir cap.

Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Ramps and jack stands
  • Phillips and flat head screwdrivers
  • Container for used coolant
  • Crescent wrenches or Ford disconnect tool T82L-9500-AH
  • Hex nut screwdrivers
  • New radiator
  • Flush treatment
  • Coolant
  1. Step 1 Drive your Ford Taurus up a set of ramps onto a pair of jack stands, if it is a 1996 model or newer. Remove the lower splash shields. For 1986 through 1995 models, you can remove all necessary components from above.
  2. Step 2 Begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and draining the radiator into a transportable container. Open the plastic draincock on the lower rear of the radiator and crack the radiator cap.
  3. Step 3 Remove the overflow tube from the coolant recovery bottle and disconnect it from the radiator. On SHO model engines, remove the recovery bottle as well. Next unscrew the shroud and remove it from the retaining clips. Disconnect the wires to the fan motor, and remove the fan assembly and shroud in one piece.
  4. Step 4 Squeeze the hose clamp ends together on the radiator side, and remove the upper and lower hoses. For automatic transaxle models, use either the custom Ford disconnect tool T82L-9500-AH or two crescent wrenches to remove the transmission coolant lines.
  5. Step 5 Disconnect the radiator supports. 1986 through 1992 models will have two upper retaining screws for 3.0 liter and SHO engines. 3.8 liter engines will have two driver's side hex nuts and two passenger side screws. All other models have either the upper screws or the combination of right hand hex nuts and left hand screws.
  6. Step 6 Tilt the radiator backwards toward the engine and lift it out. Fit2.gif the new radiator into the support and replace the support screws and nuts. Reattach the hoses and wires in reverse order.
  7. Step 7 Flush the new radiator with either water or a commercial flush treatment. Connect your battery terminals and replace the coolant and let the engine idle for 5 to 10 minutes with the heater on and the radiator cap removed. Top off the coolant as necessary.

Should be a diagram on the under side of your hood, or in the engine compartment somewhere. If not, wrap it around the crank pulley, and work your way around, putting flat sides to flat pulleys, and ribs to ribs. There will be a couple of combinations, but you should be able to get it.

Which relay is for the fans on 2001 ford Taurus

Which relay is for the fans on 2001 ford Taurus

Answer

There are 2 relays for the cooling fans. They are located in the power distribution box located in the engine compartment (see picture below of location). there is a low speed fan relay located in the number 24 position and a high speed fan relay located in the number 32 position (see layout picture below). If your fans are not working at all you may also want to look at the "maxi" fuse in the number 9 position as that gives power to those relays. i hope this helps and good luck.

SEE THE STEPS WITH CAREFULLY AND COMMON SENSE:God bless you
Press the unlock button on your vehicle's key fob to deactivate the alarm. If you've misplaced your remote for the car, use the PATS programmed key to unlock the driver's side door. Then, put the key in the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. The vehicle's battery should be on, but the engine shouldn't be running.

  • 2 Locate the override button on the alarm box, beneath the driver's side of the dashboard. Press the button and hold it in until the alarm beeps one time. The LED light for the alarm should stop blinking, indicating the anti-theft system is disabled.

  • 3 To reset the vehicle's alarm, put the PATS programmed key in the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. Press the override button. When the alarm resets, it chirps two times and the LED light begins blinking.
