It was actually the PCV hose from the back of the intake to the passenger-side valve cover. I'd seen others post about this as well & they were 100% correct. After 5 yrs that hose (plastic) collapsed at the 90 degree elbow as well as having a hole in it. It was sucking air causing the "lean fuel" code. Swapped ~25 part & runs good as new now!!

DTC P0171 and Po174 indicate air/fuel ratio is correcting rich for an overly lean condition. You could have several things causing this 1. fuel system malfuntion 2. EGR system malfunction 3. Air intake vacuum leak 4. Engine oil level to high 5. Incorrect cam timing 6. Restricted air cleaner 7. Faulty PCV system 8. Excessive internal engine wear.
Sorry I could not be more specific. Check for the easy things in this list. Most of the time one of the o2 sensors in bank one has failed and not reading correctly. Same on the 02 Lesabre.

You dont need to remove all of those thing to do that. Working on the passenger side, remove the globe box and then the air bag, you are gonna see the bolts there. Now yo can see the black box behind the globe box? you have to remove the screws, some from the inside and some from the ouside (very hard to reach, under the box of the AC box outside).
Lifth the black box of the heater core and change it!!!

HORN DOESNT WORK

MY 1998 FORD CROWN VICTORIA LX. HORN DOES NOT WORK!! I CHANGED THE FUSES BUT STILL NO HORN WHEN U PUSH ON THE STEERING WHEEL!!! WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME... I REALLY NEED THIS PROBLEM FIXED!!!!??? :(

a very common cause of this problem is the steering wheel mounted horn button looses it's connection to the horn circuit due to a defective ribbon rotating contact under the steering wheel, the special clock spring shaped ribbon wiring harness is what allows you to turn the wheel and still have a connection to all steering wheel buttons and the airbag, to check this listen for a click when u press the horn button with the engine off, it will be faint but if u listen closely u will hear it, if u don't hear it u will ned to replace the Clock-Spring rotating contact under the steering wheel. 1998 ford crown victoria radiator

1998 ford crown victoria radiator fan not coming on. Help.

Electric Fan(s) not working, Checking the fan(s), relay, fuse and engine temperature sensor's.
Verify that the fans work by unplugging them and run jumper wires to the fan(s) from the battery. If they run, your problem lies elsewhere. If either does not run, it's the motor.
Next thing to check is for power at the fan connectors. You have to be cautious doing this because the engine needs to be running and warm if not almost hot, and the A/C also needs to be on. (Both must be on and running for the duration of this checklist.) The A/C fan is on the passenger side and should come on almost the instant the A/C is turned on. It is also the secondary engine cooling fan and should cycle on and off in relation to engine temperature. Use a test light to probe the two wires on each fan. If you find power the fan motor(s) is/are probably bad. If there is no power to fans, roll up your sleeves!

You didn't mention the year or model so this will be generic. The temperature switch is usually located above the oil filter. If the dash gage is working, its probably OK. Next is the Fan Control Temperature Sensor, located IN or CLOSE to the thermostat housing. You will find out if it is working later is this checklist. I just wanted you to know where it is. Next is the relays and fuse's. Usually located in the engine compartment on the passenger side power distribution box. You will need to remove anything over the cover to open it. If the fuses are OK, tap on the relays or pull them out and push back in. If the fans are still not running, pull a relay and probe the socket terminals for power. Two of the terminals should have power, usually criss-cross from each other. One hot terminal is battery power, and the other is the "signal" voltage which triggers the relay to send 12V battery power to the fan. This signal voltage comes from the sensor at the thermostat. If only one terminal has power, then I would replace the thermostat sensor if not both.

Hope this is clear as mud! and helps! Please let me know what you find

On 1992 and later models, the neutral safety switch is incorporated into the Manual Lever Position or Transmission Range MLP/TR sensor.

RENOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle safely on jackstands.
  3. Place the transmission in Neutral.
  4. Remove and discard the manual control lever nut, then remove the lever from the transmission.
  5. Detach the TR sensor electrical harness connector, remove the TR sensor retaining bolts, then pull the TR sensor off of the transmission case.
To install:
  1. Position the TR sensor against the transmission case and loosely install the 2 retaining screws.
  2. Attach the TR sensor electrical harness connector.
  3. Use an alignment tool, such as the TR Sensor Alignment Tool T93P-70010-A, to align the TR sensor slots.
  4. Tighten the TR sensor bolts to 80-100 inch lbs. (9-11 Nm).
  5. Position the manual control lever onto the TR sensor, then install the new lever nut to 22-26 ft. lbs. (30-35 Nm).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
ADJUSTMENT

  2. Raise the and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Loosen the sensor retaining bolts.
  4. Insert Gear Position Sensor Adjuster tool T93P-700 10-A or equivalent, into the slots.
  5. Align all 3 slots on the MLP sensor with 3 tabs on the tool.
  6. Tighten the attaching screws to 80-100 inch lbs. (9-11 Nm).

how to remove dome light cover crown victoria

Answer

You have to use a very small flathead screwdriver (the actual tool can be long, the flathead has to be small...) and there's a little notch on one side of the cover. Just insert the screwdriver there and gently pry it off. Good luck!
