What freon do you use

Get a 'kit' from any local automotive 'box store' and it will have the proper connector for the low-side refrigerant line and will be full of R134 refrigerant. Since the truck is a bit older, I would use a refrigerant with compressor oil mixed into the 'freon'.

Ac compresser comes on and goes right back off

Check Freon levels, have a shop vacuum out old and replace with new with lubricant. less than $150, worth doing anyway.

HOW TO REMOVE OIL PAN

There are several steps to removing the oil pan, especially if your 1500 is a 4 wheel drive. It's a pretty involved procedure. You are way better off buying a repair manual, such as the Haynes manual for your vehicle.

Why does my 2001 silverado overheats only when i turn on the A/C ?

The only way that could be possible is if a/c is some how switching the fan off at the radiator/condenser, so first question is with the engine running and a/c off see if the cooling fan kicks in, if it does and at the exact same time when it does, switch the a/c on and see if the fans turn off! The fans should be on or switching on and off when air con is on, hope this puts you in the right direction

The fan motor on my 2001 silverado 2500hd only blows thru the defroster and feet ports and not straight ahead

Vent ducts are controlled by vacuum valves, listen for suction sounds from the dashboard while moving though zone selections. If heard replace bad hose or repair the current hose.

Will not start will only turn over

Check that your spark plugs wires are properly connected. Check your spark plugs and see if they look good. Check your gas input and gas filter. Take your gas hose off at the fuel injection port and see if gas is coming out of the hose. If not, it could be your gas filter.

02 SILVERADO. AIR ONLY BLOWS OUT DEFROST VENTS.

I had a similar issue on an 05 silverado. Air would only blow out of defrost vents. But this worked for me: 1) Unplug HVAC fuse for 10-30 seconds 2) Start truck 3) A/C comes out defrost - wait about 10 to 15 secs 4) A/C then starts coming out the floor vents for about 5 seconds 5) A/C then starts coming out the dash vents. 6) While the A/C is coming out the dash vents, turn A/C OFF (otherwise it cycles back to defrost for good). 7) Turn truck OFF 8) Restart truck and it should work fine (Found solution on another forum from user "ccurran")
