to check the battery just do a simple load test on it at your local garage they can tell you what shape it is in . next thing you need to do is check for a dead short in the system , i do that a quick way by disconnecting the positive wire and scratching it on the + terminal on the battery if it makes sparks then power is drawing if not then it's a bad battery .. good luck . all the guys tell you oh go buy a power tester and put between the battery and the wire bla bla bla im tryin to get people the fastest and cheapest way to find the root of the evil. cars nickel and dime a person bad enough dont waste money on a tester to see if you have a draw just do the scratch test .. believe me it works . all you guru's want to sound all high and mighty lol use a tester ...
now if you do have a very small spark it can be a clock drawing power if it is a major draw it will make a snaping loud sparking sound and you'll see the spark jump from battery to the cable . p.s dont try this on computer controled cars / the computers are to sensitive and you could fry it, thats when the testers come in handy .

front wheel drive then a good pull on a decent bar is sufficient ,if older rear wheel drive vehicle then this is different as they are taper bearings and sholud not be over tightened ,just pinch up till whell doesnt wobble when grasped at the top and bottom

I bought a 2000 polo 1.4 yesterday after having an MOT. The warning lamp came on today but the car is running fine. Whether its the Lambda sensor or just the light itself is a common fault, I think garages turn off the lights to get it through the MOT then they come on again in a day or two!

To crank an engine means to turn it over with the starter motor. Is this what you mean ... it won't turn over?

have vehicle scanned for trouble codes most likely an abs sensor or hub failing but check brake fluid level and go by what code[s] show up

NO YEAR TOLD. THE ECU CUTS FUEL FOR MANY REASONS IF IT DETECTS SPARK BAD IT CUTS FUEL FAST. SO NO GAS FIRE NOW. CRANK AND CAM SENSORS DEAD. BLOW FUSES LOTS. THE ECU CUTS FUEL IF INPUT ARE WRONG THE ECU IS JUST COMPUTER. PROGRAMMED TO BE EFI. BUY THE SERVICE MANUAL THE CHECK ALL INPUT TO ECU?

no VIN posted(fail)! well there are lots of speeds sensors VSS ,and 3 transmission sensors, and 4 ABS speed sensors. we can't just guess what is wrong or what DTC scan errors pop up.? did you scan the VW yet? start a post not with HUNTS nebular,but state a problem? of some kind,.
