Fuel reset 89 festiva location
Check in glove box under seats or in both quarter panels behind the brace near the fuel neck go to rockauto.Com put in your vehicle info and then go to inertia switch to see what it looks like red top black bottom 2 wires?it should be in the quarters by taillights or glove box I tried to look up your owners manual but it only goes to 96 so look for the red top that's it

No dashboard heat output
The climate control was poorly designed on these cars.
There is only heat on the floor and defrost settings, due to the layout of the ductwork.

Not starting
i just got a 1989 ford festiva from my mom it wont start it it just turns over i replaced the spark plugs,fuses under the dash is there another fuse box or relay that could cause such situation it was runnin great when parked getting 40 + mpg i dont understand

Ignition key wont come out
Hi, we had the same thing happen, for us the ignition barell had "collapsed" internally holding the key in place - you might be able release the key by hitting the underside of the steering column while trying to extract the key - however it sounds like a replacement will be needed, due to the age of the car you should be able to source one from a car wreckers cheaply, make sure you get the keys with the new barrell.

Loose 5spd shifter
I would be checking the pivot pin that the lever pivots on in the tower on top of the box . This pin is screwed in and lock nutted and they have a habit of coming loose . The lever is tensioned by a spring around the pivot ball and there is normally a plastic bush on the end of the lever that slides in the selector rail slot . But I think that you will find the fault in the pin in the turret housing.
