The twenty amp maxi fuse in the under the hood fuse panel goes to, you guessed it, the fuel pump. It sounds to me like you have a short to ground in the wiring that keeps popping this fuse. Find and fix the short, or you will keep blowing fuses.

Observe the action of the THROTTLE RETURN DASH-POTT should visibly SLOW the RETURN of the throttle linkage like a door closer... If you do not SEE the slowess... the dashpot should be replaced (they are getting SCARCE). The keyless entry system is controlled by the (GEM) - generic electronic module . Keyless Entry The electronic door lock system has two main components:

• generic electronic module (GEM)(14B204)
• keyless entry remote transmitter (15K601)
• NOTE: Battery power and ground must be remove before disconnecting the GEM connectors to avoid setting false codes. Power Locks Operation The power locks feature allows the customer to lock and unlock the doors via momentary switches located on the driver and passenger door. When the GEM detects a momentary press of the driver or passenger lock button, the GEM will supply power to the driver or passenger lock actuators for approximately 250 ms from relays internal to the GEM. When the GEM detects a momentary press of the driver or passenger unlock button, the GEM will supply power to the driver or passenger unlock actuators for approximately 250 ms from relays internal to the GEM. check the linkage on the end of the gear shift,

check all the ground to body wires in the immediate area

I am taking a wild guess the motor gearbox has an overload clutch to protect it should the hood joints become tight or if something fouls the hood operation. That is possibly what you hear clicking - like a cordless drill/driver when the screw bottoms... If that is in fact what is happening then either the clutch has become weak and overrides too easily or the hood joints need some maintenance - maybe a bit of both.

The age of your mustang warrants the head light switch replacement. Do not be aggressive when switching these head light switches to the off position. They are fragile due to their design and will not stand abuse. Also they are expensive

It is better to test a circuit with a voltmeter and diagnose a fault than to throw new parts at something and hope for a cure and of course test the suspected components independently in order to confirm the diagnosis. Starter circuits are generally easier to work with than other types as components can be can be bypassed for instant results. The amount of current drawn by a starter is sufficient to make voltdrops fairly obvious... I suggest you revisit and test the work already completed and if you haven't fitted a dud starter or battery it would be worth checking the voltdrop along the ground return path.

With test light check for voltage on the fuse circuits in diagram. It's always a good idea to check voltage and grounds. Are there any applicable trouble codes? To check codes, at the least, you need an obd 2 code reader that will check manufacturer specific codes as well as p0 codes. You also have an inertia switch.

Make sure carb float isn't loose or sinking on you. This might not be it,but I've had that happen,flooding engine. Probably the wire you fixed needs fixed correctly,but I'd replace condenser and coil and coil wire to dist. cap, making sure also that ponts didn't slip closed. don-ohio
