Theft indicator
make sure that you are using the original key to start the vehicle. if you recently had one made, and are trying to use it, the key may need to be reprogrammed. also if the light is on, you can typically use the remote to disarm the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). get everyone out of the car, lock the doors with the remote, then unlock with the remote and the system should reset.

White smoke on start up
white smoke is a sign of water in the exhaust , the question is how is it getting there , if only when initial start then goes off then it's only condensation in the exhaust system heating up and turning to steam , if it goes on when driving check coolant level and check engine oil for signs of coolant contamination

Idles ruff smells like raw gas coming out of tailpipe
Do you have a question
If you don't work on vehicles or have
professional tools, your off to a dealer or
repair shop
What OBD Codes do you have?
Did you have a scan tool put on it to look at data?
Use it like that ,your going to ruin the exhaust converters
I would stop using it until fixed

03 windstar exhaust smells rich shutters dont want to drive
Probably the best thing to do is have your scanner plug-in checked. Problems like you describe should have made the "check engine" Light come on to diagnose your problems.
Sometimes the onboard system is broken. It should be sending alerts for this problem. You can get free scans from most big autoparts chains. They will probably say "if the light is NOT on they can't tell anything." But they can tell if the onboard system can NOT be accessed.

Rear heater
check fuse
check if power is reaching the heater
check if ground is ok
measure the resistance across the heater
if its a blown fuse- replace it
if no power reaches the heater and fuse is ok - measure if power reaches the fuse.socket then the switch for the heater and so forth
if there is poor ground or no ground - wire up a new ground or fix the old one
if there is too high of a resistance across the heater - look for broken traces and buy a silver trace pen (one made for repairing heater traces)
if there is too low of a resistance - look for a short circuit

sounds like an alternator not charging. You should have 12 1/2 volts with engine off and 14 1/2 volts with engine running if alternator is working.

Can't open the rear hatch, looks like the rod on a
There
is a small plastic access cover right above the mechanism on the inside
of the hatch. It is about 1.5" by 1.5" square. Pop it off and drown the
lock with WD40 to see if you can free it iu.
In similar cases, I open and then removed the inner panel to partially
reveal the mechanism. It looked like it was brought up from the
Titanic. It was completely rusted.
Seems that this model has a problem with water getting into the lock as it pools in the area where the catch is. sometimes the problem is fixed as long as you continue to spray the hatch out of it with WD40.
Keep us updated.
