we have a 2002 ford windstar, when in park or at low speeds the engine revs and lurches forward when the steering wheel turns. when we put it on the computer it gives a vacuum leak code.I have replaced the intake gasket, the throttle pos sen,egr valve, dfe sensor and still have the problem. The first thing that went was the cruise control and Im told it works off of vacuum,I was wondering if that could be the source of the problem.
I had the same problem. My mechanic said it is probably carbon under the EGR valve. The computer reads this as a vacuum leak and tries to compensate. The same problem can cause a rise in oil consumption, usually before the 'clog' happens. He told me if it happens again I should bring the car to him and he will clean the system.

i own a 2000 ford windstar lx. just got three brand new transponder keys from the dealer to try to start my van. they said it was the pats system. well still doesn't work. turn the key on, lights, radio, come on. but van will not even crank over. all my fuses are good. tried to bypass pats anti-theft by jumping the starter. still nothing works. volt meter on batt. is between 12-13 volts, turn the key it goes up to 15. so i would think alternator and batt. work. any new ideas i have not tried. thank you for any input.
First thing I would check is to see if you have power at the trigger wire of the starter motor while someone is trying to start the vehicle for you. It will be a Yellow with a light blue trace. If you do then I would check to see if the main battery cable has power to it all the time when someone is trying to crank it. If it does then I would hold a test light on the case of the starter motor and have someone try to crank it. Make sure that the ground you use for this test is on the negative battery terminal not just anywhere on the car. If the test light lights while you are cranking it then you have a bad ground. Hook up a set of jumper cables from the battery negative terminal and clamp it directly on to your starter motor and see if it starts. If you check it and the test light doesn't light up and all the other checks are good then your starter motor has failed. If one of the other tests has failed then you have a starter relay problem or something else. let me know what you find out.

HOW DO YOU ADJUST THE WIPER ARM TENSION HAD WINDSHEILD REPLACE AND NO WIPER IS BLOWING AROUND NOT CLEANING OF WINDSHEILD WHEN DRIVING OVER 45 MPH EVERYTIME A TRUCK GOES BY THE WIPER FLOPS
Hello: From your description of the problem it sounds like the wiper arm is bent. This could have occurred when the windshield was replaced. You might take truck back to who ever replaced windshield and DEMAND they correct the problem. The w/w arm will have to be replaced.

Where is the rear electronic module and how do i replace it? My rear lights are not working as well as my gas gage and my locks.
I'm pretty sure that the gauges and locks are not controlled by the rear body control module but I can tell you that the rear BCM is at the back, underneath the tire jack holder. Pretty easy to get at. Remove the jack, remove the 3 or 4 bolts that hold the jack bracket to the body, peel back the plastic sheath and voila, there it is.

CHUGGING ALONG WITH FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT....???? 2002 FORD WINDSTAR WHERE TO BEGIN
A flashing Check Engine light means you have a ignition Misfire, start by replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires, one or more is defective. If you have a electronic engine control fault code reader the cylinder or cylinders that are misfiring will set a fault code, the codes are P0300-P0306, the last number being the number of the cylinder ( cylinders 1-6) the computer has detected a misfire in.
