Won't stay running
Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ? Does it have a pump in the tank and also on the frame ?
Dies suddenly while driving
You'll need to figure out if it is lacking fuel or spark to proceed with testing. I carry a can of starting fluid and a spark plug tester to use when the engine fails to start.
No electric anywhere
Did you jump the car to rule out a drain battery?
Otherwise check the main fuse and electrical side of the ignition switch

If you look at the label on the fan shroud both the A/C equipped and non AC equipped applications are printed on the same label. Just look closely and I believe one is shown with a dotted line. The change of path occurs around the belt tensioner.
Not entirely sure that a shorter belt was needed, the routing of the belt on the passengers side of the motor takes up some of the slack.
Temperature gauge
heater core air pocket, or the valve are the first places to look.see if valve is opening & you have a good 50/50 mix of coolant
Coolant leaks from front of engine compartment on 1989 Ford F-150
have a coolant pressure test done on the system and find the leaks. If it is an old radiator with plastic tanks then the tanks may be split (common) -check radiator hoses for splits and radiator cores for leaks. If the hose is enlarged past the clamp replace it as it is about to burst anyway check water pump and check all points where hoses are clamped onto aluminium housings as they corrode under the hoses.
Won't start at times
Cat. converter in your exhaust may be clogged, building up backpressure as the engine runs. Pressure slowly releases over time, allowing your engine to start after sitting. A clogged catalytic converter has been known to get so hot it will glow red, espically in the dark.
