86 f250 in side lights flickr heads lights go dim

One or more pair of rectifiers has likely failed in the alternator. The older FOMOCO alternators had a horshoe shaped mounting plate that delaminates and usually takes our a few diodes. As long as at least one pair remains intact, it will produce adequate charging voltage, but current output will be greatly diminished.Easiest thing to do is replace the alternator.

I have an opportunity to

What is the odometer reading on this truck?
==========
I believe "CL" is short for crew cab long wheel base.
Record the VIN and license plate number and check for the current status of the registration and back fee.

Link HERE to the Ford VIN decoder for all STOCK equipment that originally equipped with the truck.
========= Check for color of the oil. Warm up the truck and do a long test drive so look for white smoke from the tailpipe
Coolant,oil,transmission and rear diff fluid + filter changes are given. ($220+) =========
========= Vacuum leak will occur on old line.
ALL rubber fuel lines and vacuum lines will need to replace. ($60+) Dual tanks? (fuel select valve can crack $80) =========
========= Open the gas cap and smell for rotten egg odor.
Tanks should be drain and boil out. ($80+) =========
========= Radiator + cap should be replace.($200) =========
All coolant hoses ($50+)
Exhaust leak should leak it to the professional, ==========
Make sure the current owner did not place the truck on non-operational 10 years ago.
You do not need to get stuck with years of back fee.

86 ford f-250 460 stick

Hello, The fuel pump should be on the front lower block on the Drivers side. Sometimes it is easier to work underneath the truck where the bolts are. If you have a stone shield it will be easier if you take it off.

The pump will unbolt. Take off your fuellines before loosening the pump. The fuel pump has a lever which you will see on the new pump. A cam rotates and presses on the lever to push or make a stroke. When you are pulling off the pump, if the pump seems to raise up while you are unbolting it there is a trick to making this easier.

You need to rotate the engine, either with a socket on the crankbolt and breaker bar, or bump the starter. There is a dead spot on the operating cam that will release the spring tension. Just turn the motor to that spot and the fuel pump will practically fall out when you unbolt it. Use a good quality gasket on the replacement.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.
