probably not more likely that it has seized hydraulic lock occurs when there is fluid on top of the piston that stops it from coming to tdc water in from the air cleaner, leaking injectors will cause it and that can be checked by removing the injectors and seeing if it can be turned over by hand or starter because it got hot , the head may have cracked and allowed coolant in onto the piston

The overdrive gear and syncronizer are worn out. The transmission will need to be taken apart to fix.

you have right fluid and yess it does sometimes take a lot what i usually do id get a small brake fluid bottle fill it all the way up and put finger over hole put up side down and put bottle rate into slave resivor so u can just let it gravity bleed for a little while like 15 or 20minues them you pump and have some one open bleeder

Based on the year of the vehicle I would strongly agree that you have a ground issue. Try taking the plug end with a circuit tester and go from the hot lead to a ground and see if you are getting power. If you are getting power to the plug it is a grounding issue which can be remedied by running an additional ground from the blower motor to the chassis. let me know if this helps.

Tough to tell without being there but it may be your timing chain slipping or broken. At that age of vehicle (how many miles) if the timing chain has not been replaced - that would be my suspect.

Most likely you have a Holley carb. You may have a 460 engine. If you have the carb with a big vacuum pot in front of the carb, then you have a RPM governor. The RPM governor will work against the 4 barrel.

The main mixture for the idle jets can be adjusted like any old style carb. You may have plastic caps over the idle screws but take them off. Then use a vacuum gauge on any intake fitting and proceed to read the vacuum level as you turn the mixture screws. You want the mixture to reach a maximum RPM, then evenly turn the screw in until the RPM drops slighty and then balance for smoothest idle.

After this step adjust curb idle and see if this helps when the 4 barrel kicks in. Holley has different springs for the vacuum actuated secondaries and they are color coded. If the carb is original it should be right, but if the carb is of unknown origin you can check the proper vacuum spring, main jet, power valve and so on in a good Holley book. The mechanical secondaries are also listed with clearances to hand adjust.

By adjusting the mixture screws you have set the engine to idle just below peak vacuum pressure. This means you should have more vacuum to work the secondaries.

I have an old IDI 6.9 diesel. They tend to burn oil, and that would be normal. Just keep a check on your fluids, and unless the smoke is excessive it should not be a problem. I must say though, I personally think the IDI's were the best diesels ever built. They last forever. If you really want to treat your truck to a nice treat, after you fill your tank, dump a quart of auto trans fluid in the fuel. The additives, cleaners,and lubricants in the trans fluid really help to clean all the carbon and build up out of the injection pump, and clean the gunk from the valves and cyllinders. I usually do it every other month or so.

You will need to get some kind of ignition system first. I would recommend getting an MSD. It will come with wiring instructions, and it will be all you need to run the motor.

carburator float most likly bad. need to first test fuel filter first if it's hard to blow threw replace furl filter. then try again if it still runs bad then try the fuel pum or the spark on the ingtion system, key switch defective.

YOUR FRONT TANK INTERNAL FUEL PUMP IS WORN OUT REPLACE IT

Diesel is wired unique, 7.3. left low beam and high beam dim????????? bad rusty wires,30 years old and ground wires and lugs rusty why do all that for one lamp, dim . learn to use a voltmeter it will never lie to you see 12vdc at the lamp is good see 9v is fail then move the meter back in the chain of wires to find the voltage drop. bad wires, burned or rust connections all techs know how to test simple wiring like this. it is super easy tech,. a wire and bulb and ground here is a schematic this is not in canada with loves to fail DRL lamps right, I will answer for USA cars only its not the 1 fuse it is not the multifunction switch it runs both off 1 pin out left and right both share g101 ground lug. the wire that is bad is left side and is colored Red/blk the wire circles bad see why? from s115 junction down is bad, if above both dim. the real schematic 7.3 only
