Cant get truck to crank. Is my starter and
the points as in distributor? they have nothing to do with starter turning, if it is not cranking i would try and have someone hold key to start and you tap on the starter with a hammer and if it spins over you have a bad starter

You need to test it with the test light and volt meter.The wires from switch should give 12 volts and to the socket there should be 12 volts.With ignition on, test if there is12 volts on any wire in between switch and socket. That particular wire connection is getting short.Test each wire one by one.Which wire shows 12 volt in between, that wire needs to be disconnected and in place reconnect external wire in place of that wire.And then see if that helps.If yes, then that wire is shorting.--------
The switch has basically 4 wires and that 4 wires goes till the bulb socket.Any of the one out if this 4 wires is getting short and that is not letting the lights to work as it should.----------
