4x4 shifting
Shift on the fly is a term used by manufactures to show that you do not have to be stopped to change ratios or gears . All the gears are syncro controlled so stopping is not necessary ( a real bummer if you are half way into a bog to stop and select low range 4 wd) . Shifting on the fly will cause wear on the syncro dog teeth as the dog will not properly engage and so a tapered wear pattern occurs that will eventually lead to jumping out of drive or gear.. You can learn to lift the foot momentarily while making the change and this breaks the load on the teeth long enough for the dogs to engage properly then reapply the power. Good drivers read the road ahead and select the correct combination before entering the area so shifting on the fly is done with no problems for the transmission and it is normally done at low speeds not full on fast
1988 ford f 150 suddenly no power to fuel pumps
Hi Don,
your fuel pump is supplied voltage from the fuel pump relay which is supplied voltage from the EEC power relay ( fuel pump relay-Green Base, EEC power relay has a Brown Base) usually located on the left side(drivers side) of the engine compartment. These relays are supplied voltage from the fuse links at the starter solenoid on the firewall near the Battery, I hope this Helps Don!
