Will not start. was previously

Often find the injector harness burnt under the valve covers left and right.

Do not touch or wriggle this harness while engine running...it carries 400 volts !

NAPA has repair harnesses available or you can go to Ford Parts for oe.

BTW..Stop with the easy Start Fluid already....you'll crack a piston or rings.

It also sound like glow plug system has failed. Glow plugs need changed around 100,000 miles or so.

1997 ford f 250 overheating tried new cluch fan

Who did the work?
If you did.
Did you bleed the air out of the system?
When you turn on the heater and put it on the high setting does it blow hot then cold.
If so you have air circulating in the cooling system which means an air lock.
Air in a pressurized system does not have a cooling effect so you would overheat.
Try to put your hand on the tail pipe(careful it might be hot) and see if you feel the exhaust sucking your hand back in.
It should have a steady outflow.
If that is the case you have a head gasket or another engine block problem.
Best to you

How can a brake booster be tested?

Hello deepockets4: My name is Roger and I will help with your question. With the engine off depress the brake pedal 5 or 6 times. After doing this hold down the brake pedal and start the engine. The pedal should fall about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from where the pedal was. Should the pedal not drop you have a vacuum problem. If you have a hydra-boost brake system this check will not work. A Hydra-boost brake system does not have a brake booster. This system uses the power steering pump as the assist on the brake system. With the hydra-boost system the pedal will go all the way to the floor but you would have already put your nose to the windshield. For the hydra-boost system to fail you generally will have a power steering leak or pump failure. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. The prob is a fragile wiring harness at the base of your shifter handle, the wirings easily break from movement when shifting from park to drive. The wires can be respliced or the handle can be replaced

I'm replacing a side fuel tank on a '96/97 f-250

i would recommend taking off the tank all the way i do not know the reason why you haven't done it but i assume is the fuel lines they take a special disconnecting tool but it is not expensive at all an auto parts store may have it under 10$ if it is another reason then you can just let me know and i can help. the lock ring has a few edges where you can use a hammer and chisel or screw driver and make it turn counter clock wise and reverse this procedure to instal make sure the tool you use is not very sharp and let me know if this helped or need further assistance thanx.

Cant get brakes to work

Hydraulic brakes are quite simple in their basic operation, but can sometimes be difficult to troubleshoot.
Basically, a piston presses on a hydraulic fluid, which presses other pistons against the brake shoes.
Total failure is rare, but usually indicates where you should be looking to find the problem.
Typical points of failure are:
  • Brake shoes/pads. Shoes are used on drum brakes, pads on disk brakes. While they aren't typically the cause of total failure, they can be a problem.
  • Low brake fluid. Sometimes worn brake pads can result in significant piston movement inside the caliper. That can cause low brake fluid inside the reservoir. Check the fluid level.
  • Leaky master cylinder or slave cylinder. Usually you'll see fluid leaking around the inside of the wheels or down from the master cylinder.
  • Air in the brake line. If there is a poor seal on the master cylinder or if the brake fluid has been allowed to run out, it's possible that you may air in the line. The hydraulic line must be purged of all air for hydraulic brakes to function properly. If you haven't done it before, enlist the help of a mechanically inclined friend who has a little experience with bleeding the brakes.
Of course, it's always possible that a flexible brake line has ruptured or been cut or some other damage has occurred, but that's rare.

I have a 1997 F250 just replaced the fuel filter

Check out the TPS Sensor on the throttle body

It is replaceable with a hair drier to heat the 2 T20 Torx screws
and is about $75.00 at auto parts store

If the O2 Sensors have 100,000 miles on them
change the front 2,the ones closest to the engine.

Clean the MAF Sensor in the intake ducting, with
CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner.

Spark Plugs -every 70,000 miles.

It sounds like your Clutch Pedal Ignition Lock Switch, which prevents the truck from starting without the clutch pedal pushed in, may be failing.
