Im not 100% sure but believe they are separate. Before you spend your $$ thou, check the battery clamps, they are just a piece of tin and fall apart when they corrode on those yr trucks. Just changed mine on a '99. It does sound like a bad cell in the battery if not a bad or dirty connection. The fuse panel under the hood sometimes looses connections with the fuses, try to wiggle them around also. These things show as the temps begin to drop. Auto Zone will test your Battery & starter free.
You should be able to remove the bulb from the rear of the headlight. Squeeze the clip and turn the socket counterclock wise to remove it. Pull out the bulb, and replace. Try not to touch the glass part of the bulb with bare fingers. The natural oil on your fingers will reduce the life of the bulb.
If this happens when you lay off the gas while driving then it could be the IAC.
The IAC (Idle Air Control) Sensor. My Dodge did the same thing and by either cleaning the IAC or replacing the IAC did the trick. I found a video for you on Youtube on how to replace it. The IAC is on the backside of the throttle body and only takes minutes to do. Mine was loaded with carbon and locked up.
Just due to the miles, may be a good idea to replace the shocks.
You may also want to look for grease fittings on the suspension and steering (ball joints, tie rods, U joints, etc.) and grease them all. A squeak is very hard to diagnose over the web. What you may try is have a friend bounce on the bumpers while you listen for the squeak. That may help you narrow its location, front right, front left, rear right, rear left. Could be a bushing in a control arm or leaf spring or a metal to metal squeek.
could be bound up in the steering column or the linkage isn't right on the ******, or the forks are misaligned in the ****** or the ****** is locked up
hi if the light/dip switch is in the steering colum its possible that theirs abroken wire or afaulty connection plug that would explain why it works when steering is tilted
The plastic dome lights generally just 'clip' into the headliner (maybe a couple screws). If you removed the clear plastic lens, there may be a couple screws holding it in as well. If you are just replacing a bulb removing the clear plastic lens will be sufficient as you can then remove the old bulb and replace it. A how to on how to do this should be in the owners manual.
That code does equate to Idle Air Control malfunction but if you want to independently verify it, go to any of the chain auto parts stores and ask for a free scan of your computer.
Blower motor resistor needs replacing. Follow wires from blower motor to connector, which should be the resistor. Usually in duct work, held in by 2 small screws.
There are actually only 2 wires that control your radio from the steering wheel, although you actually have five separate functions. One of these wires is a ground. The other wire wire actually goes to the radio via the vehicle speed control/horn switch, then to the Central Timing Module (CTM). The CTM relays the switch commands to the radio via the CCD Bus.
Now, how the CTM figures out what you are commanding the radio to do is by measuring the resistance to ground through the switches. Each position of the two switches has a different resistor in it and when you push the switch one way or the other, the wire to the CTM gets grounded through the corresponding switch and its associated resistor.
The resisors are as follows:
VOLUME UP = 7.32K Ohms
VOLUME DOWN = 1.21K Ohms
SEEK DOWN = 2.05K Ohms
SEEK UP = 4.53K Ohms
PRESET = 10 Ohms
As you can tell from looking at the resistance values, If there is high resistance in the VOLUME UP or VOLUME DOWN control switch, the CTM could mistake this for a command from the SEEK UP or SEEK DOWN switches. They ALL ground the same wire. The only difference is how much resistance to ground they provide.
The fix would be to replace the switch (or switches).
It has been a while since I have replaced one of these switches, but the last time I replaced one, it came from the dealer with BOTH switches and the wiring between them.
Hi,
Means the Idling of the car is not set properly either it is too high or too low..
Idle is the cars state when you are not stepping on the Gas pedal, look at the speedometer to see the idling if it is correct, contact a mechanic for further details on the adjustment of the idling.
Under more throttle/acceleration vacuum will drop. Start from the intakes vacuum source and follow the line(s). Should go off to a resivour at some point. Make sure no lines are broken and that the resivour is not split.
did you install the fuel pump yourself? no offense, but maybe the fuel lines are cross connected or there is no power to the pump. Sit in your truck with the windows up and turn on the ignition on and off. Listen for the fuel pump running, have somebody do that while you listen in on it from the outside, if its too faint. check your wires and fuses. over time weird **** just happens. good luck
Hi panther
You should have the cylinder heads serviced. They will crack & pressure test them as well as surface grind the meeting face. They will also detect any valve seating or guide & seal
wear. As for the timing chain it depends on km. ok
the engine has done. Check the guides & tensioner for wear. If in doubt have the machine shop check email out.
Have experienced this problem twice in life. Once on my 1968 Oldsmobile and recently on my daughters 2001 Dodge truck. Crawled under it and beat on starter with a hammer. The brushes wear thin and at some point lose contact with armature. Was able to get contact, start the vehicle and get it to a more suitable repair location. If this works, remember it is a temporty fix. The brushes and/or starter will need replaced. Good luck.
