Probably the switch on passenger side. Pull it out and test with 12v test light. If power in, and no power out, you found your problem.
97 dodge 2500 4x4 will not engage
On the axle there is a vacuum Actuator that engages a collar on the axle that engages the four wheel drive if the axel splines are worn or havent been lined up they will get burred and won't allow the collar to line up. You can remove the actuator and see the splines and determine if they need to be fixed.
No problem yet
iv had mine for 5 years bin a good truck. it has 2010000 km still runs strong.
1995 Dodge 3500 v 10 Hard cold start
There is probably a strainer type filter in tank, like every other unit I've seen, but I can't believe you don't have one between tank & engine. Take a look along the frame rails under the truck. If you follow the path of the fuel lines from the tank, my guess is you'll find one attached to frame. Most of the cars I've worked on lately are usually just ahead of the passenger side rear wheel, bolted to frame.
Tried starting my 1999 dodge
If your positive and negative terminals are clean, both ends... not
just battery, you should hear your starter relay click each time you
turn the ignition key to 'start'. If no click, check connections to
relay, If still no click, relay may be the problem. Assuming your
battery or batteries are charged and you only here the click of the
relay and no starter action, good chance the starter solenoid is in
poor condidtion, or history. An indication of this problem is the
starter would work intermittently and finally quit working.
Its an easy cheap fix. First disconnect you positive
cable on the battery so you don't fry yourself or anything expensive.
Remove the starter. Undo usually four bolts that hold the starter case
together and pull it apart. Its always a good idea to pay attention how
it came apart so you put it back together the same way.
The starter solenoid is just an electrical contact
switch that conducts high amperage to the starter motor during engine
start. The contacts in this switch burn out over time. When you pull
the starter housing apart, you will see that the solinoid contact
switch is installed within the hump on the side of the
starter housing. You will quickly see if the solinoid
contacts are burnt or damaged. Most auto parts stores have a
whole collection of contacts. I paid 3.85 Canadian for a set that
didn't quite match the set in my 95 dodge cummins. 20 minutes of filing
saved me the $600.00 my buddies were paying . "Rebuilt' my starter
about 5 years ago... and starts every time. Hope this helps someone out.
Priming fuel
You prime it at the lifter pump on the drivers side the primer is a black rubber push button type. you shouldn't have to crack any injector lines if you do you can risk damaging the lines or their ability to seal. good luck
Rail pressure
You will need a fluid filled gauge capable of reading 250 psi it can be installed in the rail plug on the shutdown solenoid.
In order to get an accurate reading it may have to be on a dyno.
good luck
Serpentine belt
Usually a diagram of routing on top of rad or in that area.
Radiator
drain it with the petcock at the bottom, remove hoses, unbolt, lift out, drop new one in, hook up hoses, fill with new mix. start it up let the water get throough the system and top off if necessary. then go out and get a six pack you earned it!
Looking for location of thermometer
Quite often near front of grille area, sometimes attached to center brace for hood latch. Just looks like a little probe sticking out and wires to it.
Not starting
I had a similar problem ... It was my Low Idle needed adjusting. Hard time starting and would just die when I let off the pedal. The vibration form the motor wears down the flat bar that pushes to increase the idle speed. I know it sounds simple but it ran me around for a couple weeks. Old School Dodge Mechanic didnt even charge me to set it.
With your Auto Trans in gear and AC on you should be at 750-800 RPM.
Grab a manual like Haynes it shows you how in there and they are handy to have around.
Hope this helps and good luck.
Fuel leaks during fill-up
I had a faulty seal at the top of my tank. Also check your tank straps while your down there. One of mine snapped.
