Little or no heat
Is both heater hoses hot? Could need radiator and heater core flush. Water pump propellers could be detoriated. I have seen this on vehicles before. Just some ideas to look at.
My truck is surging at highway speeds gets worse to the point of cutting out some in city driving but idles fine.
I'm not specifically familiar with your truck, but I would check with a dealer to ensure there is no inline filter before taking the part store's word for it. While most vehicles have a pick up filter in the tank for big stuff, I've never seen a car without an inline filter for micro-particulate. The part store you called may simply not carry it, or may carry a desk help person who doesn't know what they're doing (happens all the time). Other possible issues for your surging could be that you have a sticky injector that isn't opening/closing properly, that your automatic trans is acting up (if you have one), or a pressure regulator in the lines (my wife's car also does this because the part that is supposed to hold fuel pressure in the line is bad (as a result it starts hard unless you let the pump "prime" the pressure just before starting) and so it surges just a little with the fuel pump's cycling when driving at freeway speeds. I think you're on the right track with an inline filter though and would try that first.
New wires, plugs, and distribuator cap in but
The rotor is either "keyed" or screwed onto the advance plate under the distributor cap. Does your truck have points and condenser or a breaker-less inductive pickup? If points/condenser, you may want to replace them (condensers can be fickle little beasts). If inductive pickup, they usually either work or they don't. If distributor has a vacuum advance, make sure the vacuum diaphragm is working as it should; if centrifugal advance check for free movement and lubrication of the advance mechanism. After all that, if you are still having problems, check your coil, coil wire (did you replace it when you changed plug wires?), and timing. BTW, are you getting a check engine light and associated error codes? Good luck.

I changed my brake line
Hi, if the fitting is leaking, it may be cross threaded. You may want to take it out and put some leak lock on the threads. If the line it self is leaking, it will need to be replaced.

What is crank sensor
Crank Position Sensor Is A Magnetic Sensor That Tells The ELectronic Control Unit (ECU) Which Position The Crank Shaft Is In. That Is Rotating And Top Dead Centre On Every Revolution. If Your Car Is Telling You About This Sensor Ocassionally Then It May Need Adjusting And /Or Cleaning ,It May Also Just Have A Dirty Connection Where It Plugs In .The Engine Will Not Start At All If This Sensor Goes Faulty
I have a '97 dodge ram 2500 diesel. I bought it
Batteries should be changed as a group. over time they seem to "twin" off each other and wear at the same rate. You should also check your starter selonoid to be sure it is working correctly and is not worn out.
Brakelights stay on
Are you talking about the brake lights in the back, or the brake warning light on the dash ?If the warning light is on, have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder ? Is the parking brake on ?
