I have this buzzing problem with my vw citi golf chico, it comes from the speedo area on my dashboard and happens all the time on and of, the oil warning light comes on but I have checked the oil and it is fine. How do I fix this

the buzzing is most likely the speedo cable ive had a few older cars that do this you might try having someone oil the cable if they can or you can as for the oil light it might be low oil pressure or a bad oil level sensor or even a dirty plug on the sensor

Not sure what model your car is,but try checking the two oil sender units, one located onthe side of the cylinder head[gearbox side]and the other on the oil filter housing. Also have a mechanic check oil pressure, should be+-2bar pressure at idle.If everything checks out, including the wiring, try another instrument cluster..Good luck

inside the car cut the covering back on the release cable to expose the wire release cable, with a pair of locking pliers (Vise Grips) pull that inner wire while someone pushes down over the hood latch area, that is what we try 1st in the shop, most times that does it.

98 VW Golf GL, Dashboard lights out!

I have a 1998 VW Golf GL - The dashboard lights (Green) no longer illuminate my instrument cluster, they do however occasionally comeback on, but if my car goes over a bump or if the dash knocked they turn back off, as well as some of my center console instruments (AC, Blower, Rear De-frost etc.). It's not a blown fuse or bad light switch.

Remove the glove box: unscrew 3 screws inside the box (in a row towards the top) and 2 on the outside (one on the bottom right side- open the car door to access it, and one on the bottom left side). Grab the bottom of the box and pull it toward you. It will come off.

Once it's off, flip it over. There are 2 screws that hold the latch housing on the box (you'll find them in the 2 circles that are cut into the plastic). Unscrew them.

Next, flip it back over to the front and stick a small flat screwdriver between the latch housing and the glove box part that it's stuck into. Gently pull the latch and the whole thing should come out.

Pop the new one in, replace the screws, put your glove box back in your car, and you're good to go!
