My 2002 Volkswagen GTI has

the lose of pressure is causing the overheating, VW and most other German cars, require that the cooling system be sealed to hold the pressure in order to maintain the right temperature. The leak in what I am guessing is the water pump is causing the system to lose pressure therefore it is going to gain heat. In other words repair the leak and you will fix the overheating issue.

How do I change the

First you remove the engine cover.
1. Unclip the two metal clips.
2). Unclip the MAF sensor and pull out of the way.
3). Undo the air intake or undo the clip right behind the box area.
4.) wiggle and work the cover out of the engine compartment.
Turn cover upside down (place on something soft, as to not scratch the top).
3) restore mounting bushings if you haven't done so yet.4) Depending on how you took off the cover, remove the intake hose and the clamp.5) Loosen 8 screws NO NEED TO REMOVE!
6) Separate cover halves from the front. Slowly, as there are hinges at the rear (by heatshield).
7) With pieces apart, change air filter.

When putting pieces back together, start with the hinge, and hold the air filter--so it doesn't fall out. Make sure screws are still pulled out, or cover won't seal.
Follow steps in reverse to restore cover back to service.

That's it, you are done, good luck & i hope this helps FixYa up.

Will a 1982 quantum motor

If the Quantum engine is the 1.7l (4 cylinder) engine, it should fit. The main difference will be that the engine in the Quantum is mounted "front-to-back" while the GTI will have the motor mounted "side-to-side". All of the accessories, the intake system, exhaust system and other items will have to be retained from the GTI motor.
Personally, I would think that this would be a lot more work and have a much greater chance for issues than a more simple swap with a standard VW engine.

Hello i have a GTI

I think that PO422 is the Cat Converter, it may be bad or may be just the O2 sensor.
The PO300, 302, 303, 304 code have to do with the ignition coils or wires. (302, 303, 304 means there are ignition /firing problems in cylinders 2, 3and 4). If your lucky just the wire and new spark plugs.
Google "engine codes Jetta" for more on web. Good luck.

No its not normal, youll need to check for coolant and if it has a resovoir make sure its not low.VW on the waterpump uses a plastic propellor and it tend to slip of and not propell the cooling fluid as it is supposed to, you are at the beggining of a internal waterpump failure, watch your temperature carefully and get the water pump replaced soon

I have an auto Transmission.

Sounds like it needs trans fluid & filter change. Your description is actually normal for cars when EXTREMELY cold but shifts happen within minutes not blocks/mile. I'd change trans fluid & filter, VW recs every 50k (you didn't mention mileage)

Light of ABS is always

Only way to turn it off would be to remove the ABS sensor (bad idea and potentially dangerous) or to replace the brake sensor. The part runs between $40-60 and is relatively easy to install.

Hi,i have a 99,golf gti

Not uncommon, especially in colder climates. Clean it off if it bugs you. Do you change your oil at recommended intervals? The gunk shows up on cars that are driven only short distances.
