To low idle
since you said that the speed of the engine not goes beyond 950 rpm , the problem lies with the engine.get an authorized service personnel to open up and check up your engine for any wear and tear on piston rings or the crank shaft couplings with that of piston.and also change the engine oil ..hope your problem will be tackled.
High fuel consumption/ strong smell of fuel
you could have a injector stuck in open loop and or a bad o2 sensor these are the two most common problems i see with stated issues that you are having . hope this helps you!!
Car is locked
There really is only one answer to your troubles...you need to call a locksmith, it's gonna cost a few dollars, but it's the best way to get in......or, depending on how busy your police departments are, they have been known, in some locations, to help people get thier keys out.

GTI Heating Core Problem
it would be the heater core if you are losing antifreeze like that and getting it in the vents. cost of the part shoud be under 50.00

Regarding the steering, check the tightness of the power steering belt and the steering fluid. Some places can flush the fluid if necessary. Check for leaks at the power steering lines and the inner tie-rod boots if the fluid is low. If the fluid is ok, no leaks and the belt is tight the pump may be going or the steering rack could be binding which means replacement of either if that's the case. If the pump groans loudly when turning that will indicate a problem. If the belt is squealing it may be too loose, worn or the pump pulley may be binding.

The ABS light is illuminated.
If the weight was on the back side of the wheel it's possible that it knocked a wheel sensor for the ABS system. It could have loosened a wire connection for the sensor too.
