2000 Nissan Altima - Page 4 Questions & Answers
200 altima with misfire, replaced plugs and wire, still misfire, smell raw gas
Hi James, I'm glad to help!
James, there are many things that can cause a misfire from severe vacuum leaks too mechanical problems. The first step is to do a "Compression Test" to see if your miss is related to valve or ring issues. If you do have low compression then your need to do a "Cylinder Leak Down Test" To determine where the lose is coming from. If there are NO problems found with compression then your next step would be to check "FUEL PRESSURE" because the lack of proper fuel pressure can also cause misfires. If fuel pressure is not the issue then your next step would be to check to make sure your injectors are getting the correct power and ground by using a noid light to test each one. If you find that there are NO issues with the injector circuit, then your next step would be to remove the injector rail, turn the key on while watching the injector spray patterns to see if its spraying evenly and there are no drips after the injector turns off. Because large amounts of fuel dripping from the injector will also cause misfires. This should be enough to help you in the right direction of finding the problem. Hope this helps and have an awesome day James.
Car wont start, oil on top of the piston
On a car this old my first guess would be warn out rings. No quick fixes there really. You need to rebuild, HOWEVER if its just warn rings usually the car will start and run it just loses a few ponies. I would check the spark plugs. Are they corroded, oil soaked?
2001 Nissan Altima - Instrument panels gauges stop working
My 2001 Altima's instrument gauges die out after high-speed driving for 40-50 miles. Engen also loses power. Everything is back to normal when the car cools down. It turned out the ingition relay was bad. I could duplicate the problem right away by removing the relay. Actually, it is very easy to find the relay which is located above the fuse panel. The ignition relay is the bottom left one among the five relays there. It costs only $20.
2000 Engine oil leak
most likely front cover o-ring. there is a small $4 dollar o ring behind the front engine cover, that leaks. Pretty common problem on your car.
While driving gauges all freeze or drop to zero?
Ask a dealer about recalls
Those are the folks that take care of that
There is a fix for almost everything
Finding someone who know how to diagnose
& find a problem & solution, may never happen your way,
unless you go to lots of shops & ask the questions
They won't give out much, if they even follow the conversation
Smoke from steering wheel
Not a clue but I would take it to a dealer and have it checked. If it ever goes up in flames you do not want to be in the car.
Trunk lid wont shut evenly on 2000 nissan altima
is this recent or a long time condition? there is no track to speak of just hinged arms but the bolts in the hinges can come loose and cause the lid to be off kilter. I would check all the bolts to see if they are tight.
