It sounds like you have lost air pressure to your master cylinder via a tube from your engine. Or a Immobiliser has interferred with the operation of the braking.

What does it mean if you do not recieve a code read out?

that can mean no power to your ECU.i take it you have turned your key to position two so that your ECU has power and your code reader can then start to read the information from your ECU.

When you turn the ignition and it clicks but will not turn over and the lights still work what could it be

low battery, battery cables not making secure connection, battery terminals oxidized or needing cleaning/brushing .... failed starter .... tap the starter with a wrench, it can revive it :)

What is wrong when you turn the ignition and it clicks and it will not turn over and the lights still work

First check the that the battery cables are securely fastened .... you may also need to brush/clean the battery posts .... it is either not getting enough battery power(bad battery or bad battery connections), or the starter is failing ..... try tapping the starter with a wrench a bit, strange enough this technique renewed my old starter and kept it going for years :)

My cruise control does work, push button to set then nothing

After much research & frustration, I learned this seems to be a fairly common problem with the Freestar. (along with many other problems.) We replaced the Brake Pressure Sensor and it corrected the cruise control problem and the Traction Control light. I think the part was about $30. & we were able to replace it ourselves. Hope this helps!

My 2004 free star will not always go in gear, but when it does it works fine. Now it will not go in gear.

Sounds like you'll need to have a transmission shop check it out. Could be low fluid pressure or several other things.

How to replace a belt tensioner in a 2004 freestar

First get the new part and also a new belt.,small tube of blue lok-tight..Use safety glasses and work on cold engine..You can also disconnect negative cable from battery for safety in case you drop a tool on alternator and create an arc that could blow a fuse or worse..set parking brake and in park...Look at belt configuration and draw your own picture of the routing...However you should have a small sticker under hood that shows you the correct routing...You will need a good long slim Ratchet to remove belt and tensioner.also regular socket set with short well metric sockets..They make a special slim tool to remove and install belt..It makes it a lot easier...Remove belt...,remove tensioner...Pay close attention how tensioner sets in place..Install new tensioner in same position..use blue lok-tight on bolt threads to mount tensioner..torque it tight but not too tight,,.Install new belt.,Make positively sure belt sits in all grooves of all pulleys while routing..Double check routing again to make sure belt is perfectly set in all pulleys..Tug on belt with hand to make sure all is good and fit....Make sure all tools are removed from under hood before starting engine .......Start engine to verify all is correct...

Computer replacement

Knowing the car type would help. If it is a GM when you buy a new computer it does not come with the Eprom chips. you have to take the chips out of your old computer and install them in the new computer through the access plate. If you bought a new computer that came with the chips. You have to take the computer to a GM shop and have it programed to the car that you are putting it in. Have the Vin number with you when you take it to them or they won't be able to program it.
