How to replace the thermostat on the 2004 ford freestar
Don't forget to check the cabling to the dashboard , if the dial is rapidly moving up and down I would suggest , bad signal/sensor , poor grounding , your gauge I'm assuming jumps from C to mid way and back while driving , if it's jumping to H , stop driving as this would not be, no pun intended , cool!!

Electric latch on the rear Hatch door will not unlock
I guess ford was trying to make a couple more bucks by not putting key locks on all doors. Anyway, if you crawl inside and pop the small cover(about 2"x2") off the inside of the hatch where the latch is located you can reach in with a screwdriver and manually move control arms. The lever on the back/far side of assembly is in the locked position, you need to move to the opposite side left or right of it's current position, this will unlock the latch and should allow you to open the door. You mave have to pop acutor arm loose to move it. My problem ended up being the outside cover {license plate frame)seal had been damaged by a ford mechanic, that or it was defective. Water got in and damaged the the lock acuator. Had to replace entire assembly as ford does'nt offer just the acuator. Sealed the outside cover with clear silione.

I have a 2004 freestar s with a factory am/fm radio. i installed an am/fm/cd radio. it will not recognize cd's in the player. tho original radio has only 1 plug port, the new radio has 2 ports. is
is it a new cd/radio ? the wiring is the same for a radio with or with out a cd player , the cd should work once the radio is connected , the other port you mention may be relevent as the original radio was a factory installed , these are usually designed to be useless to be used in other vehicles as a theft deterrent , i would remove the new radio and have a good search in the radio space as there may well be the second connector you require , be very carefull as there are many sharp edges and the apeture is not very large , the second connector , if there, will most likely be taped to another loom so as to keep it away from touching other parts so a good torch and have a search , keep me posted if you wish

What does traction control mean??
"Traction Control" is a horrible thing the manufacturers have started adding to vehicles. What happens is... they install an engine with plenty of power for hauling loads, passing, and so on. They do not, on the other hand, want you to have all that extra power when you pull away from a stopsign or stoplight. In order to "protect you" from all that power, if the vehicle detects that you're accelerating faster than you "should", it automatically applies the BRAKES while YOU are accelerating. Without ever notifying you that it's doing so. With no warning that your brakes are likely to wear out much faster than they would in a non-"traction control" car.

Why won't 2004 Ford Freestar start, but the dash lights up?
More than likely a key problem. Dont mess with any fuses. A bad keywhen turned wont make any noise. If you have a 2nd key please try that first. If that is your only key consult a locksmith to see if they can program another key. Dont throw away a bad key it may be able to be reused. Good luck.

Power windows and vent
If more than one window is not working, it could be the controller in the door, or lack of power to that side of the van.
Have you checked the window switch for power and ground ?

Traction control has been turned off. Can be either done by pushing a button or can be caused by faulty electronics.

What sends power to the fuel pump on a 2004 ford freestar
There is a fuse and a relay. Ford also uses an inertia switch to shut power off to the pump in the event of a collision. Sometimes it doesn't take much to trip the switch. Usually they are behind the passenger side kick panel and a push of a button resets it.
