1996 F-350 7.3 Powerstroke , truck is running good

Blow by is what you are describing coming out of the oil fill cap. A little is normal, it all depends on the internal condition of the engine. I would not be to quick to say that you have glow plug issues. I would look at replacing the cam censor on the 7.3 engine there is a recall from ford for this on some model year 7.3 liter diesels

1996 F-250 powerstroke the truck only has 150000

unfortunatly its probably an internal leak and the motor is burning the oil.this could br caused by leaking valve seals, bad rings or more likely bad turbo seals.add some lucas oil conditioner and see if that helps.to check the turbo pull the tube going from it to the inter cooler and look for oil. due the same on the exhaust side

Where and how to change fuel filter on 1996 Ford

Please don't forget to rate!!!!

Diesel Engines The 6.9L and 7.3L diesel engines use a one-piece spin-on fuel filter. Do not add fuel to the new fuel filter. Allow the engine to draw fuel through the filter.
  1. Remove the spin-on filter by unscrewing it counterclockwise with your hands or a strap wrench.
  2. Clean the filter mounting surface.
  3. Coat the gasket or the replacement filter with clean diesel fuel. This helps ensure a good seal.
  4. Tighten the filter by hand until the gasket touches the filter mounting surface.
  5. Tighten the filter an additional 1⁄2 turn. NOTE: After changing the fuel filter, the engine will purge the trapped air as it runs. The engine may run roughly and smoke excessively until the air is cleared from the system.

Abs light blinks 16 times brake lights dont work

16 is a pass code. For some reasom your diagnostic connector is in test mode.

If light flashes, diagnostic circuit is grounded. CORRECT condition.

If anything other than Code 16, and starting with the first code recorded, GO to the pinpoint test for that code.

If Code 16, and if previous action has been taken, concern most likely has been corrected and ABS system is OK. Otherwise, GO to PC6 .

Diagnostic Data Link Connector located at the left-hand side of the engine compartment and marked ANTI-LOCK TEST.

The best thing to do is to take it to a transmission shop and ask them. They will be able to tell you if it is bad. This is the cheapest way to find out if it is bad and you can ask them how to tell for future knowledge.

96 FORD F-350 7.3 TURBO DIESEL 5 SPEED

no, it shouldnt have any looseness to it and dual mass flywheels are VERY expensive to replace, BUT yes it can be converted to a solid flywheel, check out autozone.com part number MU1989 or advanceautoparts.com part number 798, that should get you on the right path to curing your problems, i welded the two independantly turning discs of my dual mass flywheel together but i wouldnt recommend anyone doing that without the proper equipment to do so (i.e. precision lathes, cast iron welding rods, etc)
