2001 chevy malibu keeps dying.

So just maybe the Battery,Alt & Starter were okey. Assuming you did your own work, I hope you learned something. May have been cheaper to take it to a repair facility. I don't take sides but enough said. Can you tell us more where your at and if any sort of testing was done, as well as past repairs.

1991 Dodge Grand Caravan dies while driving won't restart

If it sputters or hesitates while driving I would suggest a new fuel filter. If it runs smoothly and just dies out you may have a fuel pump which needs to be replaced because it is going bad. If fuel pump relays or other types of relevant fuses are blown it would not start at all. Your mechanic could also pull a spark plug and check for a blueish white high voltage spark if it has an orange or reddish tint that would denote a lower voltage spark normally from a worn out coil pack, spark plug, plug wire etc. Through advanced engine diagnostics you can have your vehicle connected to an oscilloscope or a cylinder dwell meter which can cancel out spark to each cylinder to check for function. However your best bet may be the fuel pump, if your vehicle dies again check to see if your vehicle is getting any fuel first then you'll know for sure.

Need to know what type transmission fluid to put

The dipstick you use to measure the fluid level should have the type stamped right on the stick part. A helpful maintenance suggestion is if you replace all of the fluid, you should also replace the filter, as this is the most commonly overlooked thing with trannys. That'll cause shifting probs later, and unecessary wear with the moving parts.

Won't shift from 1st.to 2nd. when i start from a complete stop.

No engine problems? Then the transmission filter is clogged, most likely its never been changed and the fluid has lost its lubricity. Different transmissions show different symptoms. If you take it to a shop it will get expensive. They'll probably suggest ether changing the transmission control module (TCM) or transmission itself. Just give it a tune-up. Before anything check the transmission fluid level. Make sure its not low, if it is let me know to help you find the leak. If you have a leak you'll have to fix that first. No matter what you still have to give it a tune-up.

91 dodge all wheel drive

The only real differences between AWD and FWD are the transmission, rear axle and the driveshaft that connects them. There may be a different ECM for for engine tuning, but replacing the transmission and rear axle with FWD parts will accomplish what you want to do (transmission for your engine size). This is a big job, not for a DIY tune-up guy. If you just don't want AWD, remove the drive shaft to the rear axle.
