If I need a new transmission band, do I have to buy a new transmission?
There are no new transmissionsNew- is only installed on the assy line one timeNo --- you have to totally disassemble to get toany bands,so you always rebuilt itJust the removal from any vehicle, given how heavythey have gotten, is a challenge20 years ago even, it took two people just to put thetrans on the work bench & that was a 4 spd not 5,6 or 7The only way you would need a band, is if the spot weldsbroke on the endsOn a ford or dodge diesel, your best to highly modify the trans,as they can't take the torque of a diesel, if you have large tires,or tow
Dodge cummins tow haul stays on
Hi, I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500, 5.9 Cummins with 225,000 miles. Just today, my Haul/Tow keeps coming on and Trans/Temp light. Keeps automatically switching in and out on its own. It's been 100,000 miles since my last trans maintenance. Going to a mechanic close and he suggested to start with fluid change, filter change, and inspect the band, maybe adjust. Trans runs very smoothly. Checked the fluid, looks clean and not hot. Is this common with this year and mileage? If so, whats normally the out come? If the band is bad, do I have to replace the entire trans?Scott
How do I remove gasoline in my diesil 2004 dodge 2500
My girlfriend did this to my super duty ford. It's a pain, drop the tank, dispose of fuel, remove fuel lines at injectors or rail or filter, blow lines out towards removed tank with compressed air (not to high of psi) reinstall tank & lines, prime system with good fuel. Start truck. Maybe run some fuel treatment for a tank or two. Good luck.
2003 dodge ram 1500 quad cab will not shift out of
There is what is called a shift interlock mechanism. It is suppose to keep you from putting it into gear withut putting your foot on the break.
Do a quick test. See if your brake lights come on when you press the brake peddle. If they do, you will have to go into the wireing of the brake switch and see if power is coming out of the switch to the interlock solenoid. If power is going to the solenoid, then you have a bad solenoid.
Hope this helps.
