All of a sudden my AWD light in my Buick Rendezvous 2004 stays on. My AWD light stays lit reading AWD IS DISABLE. What can I do to fix it and is the car safe to drive. Is this a recall problem that should of been address threw the dealer.
Our 2002 did the same thing. Easy cheap fix! Pull the wheel off and check the wiring that goes to the wheel sensor. You will find after removing a few inches of wrap, a broken wire or two. This could be on either wheel, so check both. Fix the wires back up and you are good to go. Hope this helps!

I am trying to replace the alternator in a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. I'm looking for detailed instructions to help me out. For example: I know you are supposed to tilt the engine forward to be able to access the bolts behind the alternator but I'm not exactly sure how to tilt and secure the engine forward?
Thanks
To get the alternator out, I had to move that large electical fuse / relay box out of the way,and remove washer bottle and battery. then use a 3/8" drive ratchet to move the tensioner forward to get the belt off. I used a small mirrow to get a view of the back bolts on the alternator and removed them.[ I used meteric # 15 open end & closed end combo wench. Keep turning the back bolts until the alternator become loose.]

how to replace a 2002 buick rendezvous o2 sensor before CAT. Conv.
The O2 sersor will require a special socket to avoid damaging the wiring on the new unit. (the old one really doesn't matter so any socket that works can be used on it)
The first thing to do is spray a thread release agent like PB Blaster® around the threads. You should do it for several days between driving.
Call the auto parts stores to find one that has loaner tools. They will require a deposit until the socket is returned. It will look something like the picture. Yes you will need a socket wrench too.
WORKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, MAKE SURE ITS BLOCK UP SO IT CAN NOT FALL.
Some more information to consider from a forum
"You might want to take the O2 sensor you just replaced back and get two new ones. Some times new O2 sensors are defective, also when replaceing them I found it better to replace all of them at the same time for sometimes when replaceing only one the computer sometimes sends back false codes. Another thing is if you buy an after market O2 sensor the wires are just a little bit longer and can cause the computer to send back false codes. The best O2 sensors that I have found are the Boch Platinums designed for your vehicle."

The diagram on the back of the panel on the passenger's side of the 02 Rendezvous is general, at best. I need to know which fuses go to what. Where is the detailed diagram? It's not in the owner's manual.
2002 Rendevouz? Yeah, it's in the owner's manual. Pages 6-62 through 6-67.

my dash blinks on and off and the radio and windows don't work when this is happening the car keeps running though 2002 Buick Rendezvous when i turn my key to on or start my dash is flashing and door locks keep locking my windows dont work and a/c dont work ... a couple of times it started normal and no blinking and a/c worked but no windows Please email me with any help [email protected] Thanks Kevin I have the same problem as posted by "bodyman", my dash lights and gauges go on & off, windows operate extremely slow (with engine running). It started intermittently but now does it everytime it's started. It appears many people have this same problem in some form or another from posts on many different sites on the net. However the solutions are very few. I have seen that the "body control module" has been replaced in several cases but it wasn't clear if this solved the problem, I also have seen where a wiring problem may have caused this. Several posts list the wiring on the floor behind the drivers seat and one very well written by "Roadside Jerry" stating a wiring rub through on the transmission side cover. It appears the problem is likely a wiring issue that is one of the hardest problems to find/fix, taking a skilled mechanic, the reason for very few post of a solution. any cures for this problem would be appreciated.
Hello, I work for a GM dealer in Texas. I have seen this issue a couple of times, on your model and several times on the Trail Blazer. That vehicle has a cassette type ignition switch, that have had some issues. It can lose one leg of the switch intermittently and cause several things to go nuts. I just looked on our service site and there are no bulletins related to the issue. If you know a tech at a dealership, have him scan the vehicle for codes and send them to me. Also ask him to check the power mode operation on the scanner, It will let you know for sure if it is a ignition switch. The switch is easy to change and costs about $35 so it is not going to break the bank. Electrical problems are difficult to diagnose at best but really hard not being there to do the testing. If you can give me any codes/ power mode info I will be better able to help you. Good Luck

Security light on dash & radio in "locked" mode
The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. (Theft Deterrent Module) The TDM is what tells your computer that the correct key is being used and that it is "OK" to allow the vehicle to start and run. These 3 parts must be in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending important signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, (normally due to a failing/broken part) the car goes into antitheft mode. The car misinterperates this and thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is NOT getting that signal from YOUR specific key. There is where the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. So basically, if that light is on, your system has some sort of failing part. This can start as an intermittent "no start", to your vehicle not running for days at a time, to the vehicle NEVER starting again. The problem is electrical and computer based, so don't count on an easy reset button, or the problem fixing itself. The hard part is isolating which part is the problem. You can spend a thousand dollars through a mechanic very easily. I have had great luck with bypassing the entire system. This way the problem will never return. It actually CAN'T ever return because it is eliminated. This can also be done yourself at a much cheaper cost. Read through this link very carefully. You'll find alot of information and pictures, along with ways to help you fix this.

Someone attempted to steal my vehicle. The ignition was damaged. Therefore I changed the steering column from one at a scrap yard.. I took the resistor out of old key (from damaged ignition) and inserted it into key for new column. Still wont start. The passkey III Security system needs reset. Anyone know how?
Make sure your battery is fully charged. Turn key on until dash lights come on and leave in the on position for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes try and start vehicle. If still no start repeat process again. If still no start you will have to have system reprogrammed by dealer
