For which component or system?

You need a scanner to see the function of each of the sensors and findout which is the one you need to change. nissan sentra has 2 upstream sensors and 2 downstream sensors. some scaners identify the sensors with a letter A OR B

Possibly a bad head gasket. Are bubbles coming up in the coolant?

Skip compression test, the results will be misleading. replace the head gasket on this series of Sentra. The first symptoms are that it take slightly longer to starting when it has been shut off warm for about an hour

sounds like it is going into default mode. Disconnect the battery for an hour and see if that resets the system.

Is this " mechanic" not diagnosing and scanning the issue ? Sounds like a new parts fitter. On those Nissan 4 cylinders with higher mileage they have been known to have an issue sounding like you explaining caused by the timing chain getting stretched a little too much causing an issue with your timing. Hence misfiring. Now I must say that there are other things that can cause misfiring too. For instance fuel. Have him hook up a timing light and see if it is firing after top dead center. sounds like you have a bad ground wire or the wire going to the sides is broken. you may have to check the connections till you find where the wires are connected. if you can test the two side lights with a battery to confirm they do work and are not bad bulbs. or switch them with working light bulbs to confirm they work. then if they work they you need to start looking for a section of wire that may be broken or is corroded and will need to reconnected to make work again.

That is to say, NVIS (NATS) will immobilize the engine if someone tries to start it without the registered key of NVIS (NATS).
All of the originally supplied ignition key IDs have been NVIS (NATS) registered. If requested by the vehicle owner, a maximum of five key IDs can be registered into the NVIS (NATS) components.
The security indicator lamp blinks when the ignition switch is in "OFF" or "ACC" position. Therefore, NVIS (NATS) warns outsiders that the vehicle is equipped with the system.
When NVIS (NATS) detects trouble, the security indicator lamp lights up while ignition key is in the "ON" position.

Sounds like the timing has jumped a tooth or two. Be careful running the engine since the valves can be bent beyond repair.
