Looking to buy my frinds 2002 Chevy Silverado. It
"All cylinders have 120 psi compression." I would be seriously concerned about this. Typically, an engine's compression should be much higher e.g. 180 psi or more. Could mud have gotten into the exhaust system causing restrictive back pressure?

Is it metallic but not aluminum? If yes, rotate the engine until the piston is at the top of the cylinder then remove the sparkplug and insert a rod with a magnetized tip to remove it. If it is non-metallic do the same thing but use a piece of wire e.g wire clothes hangar, and bend the tip 90 degrees to fit through the sparkplug hole.
Heater runs hot then goes cold
Do you have a temperature gage in your instrument cluster? When the temp goes cold, does the temp gage rise? Check your coolant level both in the radiator and the coolant recovery tank under the hood, and fill as necessary. If that is OK, then check your serpentine belt for wear and/or slippage around the water pump. Lastly, if you have a temp gage and are noticing fluctuations in the reading, you may need to replace your cooling system thermostat. Good luck.
Having problems with 2002 Chevy Silverado staying
It's hard to figure out whats going on with out any codes. Im thinking maybe the fuel pump. To check it after it stops and doe'snt start squirt some starting fluid into the carb and see if it wants to start. If it trys to start then it's a fuel problem.
