How do you check a vacuum controlled cruise control actuator on a 1981 Corvette. Thank you, Ian

Use a mighty vac, it's a hand held pump. Available at most parts stores

1981 corvette wiper delay

Sounds like the delayed wipers are not working but the regular wipers are working. If this is true check the delayed wiper board in the wiper motor it is probably shorted out.

1981 corvette anti theft will not arm

Could be the module is fubar since you have B+ at the terminal. U can also install a hidden double pole switch that deactivates the fuel pump and ignition circuits. And if you want to be fancy you can do the same with a relay that opens those circuits automatically when ignition key is removed so you do not even have to throw a switch!

I had a new clutch pressure plate and throw out bearring znd had the flywheel surfaced. When i picked the car up iy chattered badly when i let the clutch out. What would cause this

wrongly machined flywheel, oil/grease on the clutch disc/flywheel surfaces or defective parts. take it back to the shop. if all were done right including the parts, clutch system should work like new.

My 1981 Corvette will cold start, but when I try to restart it, it won't until it cools off.

sounds like you may have an over fueling problem. check for a leaking carb allowing fuel to run into the intake after shut down. have you checked to see if your missing spark when this happens. if not check if it could be a distributor component problem or coil.

My 1981 corvette tach quite working how do I get working again?

1981 Corvette has an electical tachometer that is driven by impulses from the distributor. First, check for blown fuses, next make sure the tach wire is plugged into the distributor. Next bypass silver tach filter or capacitor located by manifold to see if the tach moves at all. If these steps do not reveal a change in tach operation, then the most obvious next step is to remove the tachometer and get a new board for the tachometer. Unscrew and remove cluster lens and then unscrew tach bezel, and gently pull out the tach noting position of insulators. I believe these boards are available still at local autoparts locations. Replace board, note position of insulators and reinstall tach, bezel and lens. Old corvette are cool and are pretty easy to work on! Should be fixed, enjoy!

Why does it fire when the key is shut off

Ignition switch, bad fusible links, coil, ignition module. I have replaced several switches for this problem. At the coil, when you turn the switch on, there should be power. There also should be power when trying to start the engine. If there is no power while cranking, replace the switch. The reason it hits a cylinder or two is that the power goes to the coil, just not enough to get the engine running..
