1993 Buick Regal GS 3.8.....starts

hawkeye 30: yeah, probably the pump. A sensor malfunction would still let it run in "open loop" mode.
Before you tackle the pump, though, I'd recommend getting a fuel pressure check at the engine. Also check if you have 12 volts going to the pump at the elec. connector at the tank. good luck.

How do I replace the ignition on a 1993 Buick

That veicle is equiped with the "saginaw" Delco locking steering column. GM cylinder locks, from the late 60's 7 earlier 70'swere designed with a "pick resistant" locking cylinder. All 6 wafers had to align....simulataineously for a "side bar" to drop into the wafers shaped by the key, for the cylinder to turn. Originally, a dent puller could 'pop"them out, then they were redesigned, with a retaining screw. As these failed frequently, when the spring cover would fallinto the side bar void,& jamb in the running postion, or accesorey (back0 positoin & never move again. As locksmiths were highly trained in this, & did multiple of these repairs a day. They have all the specialized equipment needed to reolace it. (my father-in-law was a locksmith) Spent a lot of nights running service calls, when he & Mother-in-law wanted private time. This would be your chapest solution for a one time deal. The tooling alone would equal near 3x's the cost of the service call.

I need to change my6

Hi Robert.

In Buick models built before 2002 the battery is located under the hood, in the lower left hand corner of the engine compartment. To replace the battery remove covers, detach the positive cable and put it out of the way. Do the same with the negative cable (make sure you secure cables away from battery terminals).Undo the screws securing the holding rod and release the rod enough to remove the battery. Remove holder and free the battery.Perform operations in reverse order to install the new battery. Always connect the ground cable to new battery before connecting the positive cables.

NOTE: You asked the question listing a 1993 vehicle. Newer models have the battery located under the rear passenger's seat bench. It is necessary to remove the seat's cushion to access the battery. I

Regards.

The third light of my

  • On the 3rd brake assembly you will see a little plate on the back. Remove the two screws holding that access plate on and you will have access to the socket. Twist the socket a quarter turn to the left and pull the socket out. The bulb pulls strait out of the socket.
  • As for the dome light there is just a frosted over that pulls right off. You may want to take a small flat tool (small screwdriver) and just pop the cover off. You will then see the glass bulb that pulls right out and then replace with a new one.

  • If you have any comments please leave them here and I will respond to them.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

My 02 745li says lighting

This may just be an issue with the relays found in the fuse box underneath the hood. It should be a cheap replacement. Other than that it could be bad wires or corrosion in the terminals where the wire end up or where the relays are plugged in.

My engine sputters while driving,

Is the check engine light on? If it is you can pull the codes, I found a video online here that explains how to pull the codes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldbgn1h__6I The car in that video is a 1993 Bonneville so it should be very similar.

Now does it sputter in the driveway if you accelerate in park or nuetral? Any difference if its hot or cold?

1993 regal custom new battery

You have something draining your battery when the vehicle is off. Connect an ammeter to see what amperage is drawn when the vehicle is at rest and off (with the doors closed so that you don't read the draew from the dome/courtesy lights). Begin pulling and replacing fuses one at a time to determine which circuit is causing the abnormal current flow then troubleshoot that circuit. Many times the fault can be traced to a glove box, trunk or underhood light that does not shut off.

Will the a\c compresser work if no freon

Hi,
The answer is no. The unit is protected by a switch to prevent it from not starting with no or low Freon. Freon contains lubricating oil. So --- No freon , no lubrication, compressor will seize up.
Kind of a good thing. Saves the compressor if the unit runs out of Freon.

Car has hesitation while driving

Check the spark wires and coil post's and the spark plugs. Would not hurt to clean the mass air flow meter.

Where do I add freon

If you have to ask that question, you don't have the equipment, (gauges, etc) to be able to safely recharge your AC circuit in your 1993 Buick Regal!

Sorry to be blunt, but you could cause more problems than you would fix if you try to do it yourself.
Do you know what freon is in the system now? You have to recharge with the same type and since you have an older car you probably have old type in it, which means you have to evacuate the system and capture the freon (and dispose of it) and then recharge with the right amount of new type freon.
