How do I remove the Ac oil in my 89 corvette when

I have upgraded or retrofitted older cars with r134a before with the ester oil and never had any problems with the refrigerant working with the old oil, as long as you put a few ounces of the new oil in.

The kit for r134a conversion from R-12 has everything you need to upgrade without removing all of the old oil.

Of course, in the early days of r134a conversion in the early 1990s there were people who recommended that you take the whole system apart, compressor, piping, receiver drier, etc. and replace the receiver drier and dump out the old oil.

In my opinion, this is a very expensive proposition, and good to excellent air conditioning can be had by following the R134a conversion kit instructions and installing 2 or 3 cans of refrigerant into your system.

This can be done by yourself.

Watch, if you're in California, you have to return empty cans of R134a to the store because they say that it is harmful to the environment and they want to keep track of it.

Good luck staying cool with R134a.

What is the ideal operating fuel pressure for an

The 5.0L injector is sized to deliver approximately 4.05 milligrams of fuel with a 2.5 millisecond pulse or 18.13 lbs per hr at approximately 36 PSI. The 5.7L injector is sized to deliver approximately 4.83 milligrams of fuel with a 2.5 millisecond pulse or 23.92 lbs per hr at approximately 43.5 PSI. This information is typical for all manufacturers and flow rates will vary slightly even between identicle injectors.
Good luck and hope this helps.

My 89 vette, at first

This sounds strongly like a Mass Air Flow sensor(MAF). This would create all these symptoms. Double check your fuel filter, fuel system pressure, air filter, and spark plugs. Make sure that the spark plugs are AC Delco. These are better designed for these engines. Let me know what you find.

How do you replace a rear main seal on a 1989

The seal is mounted in a adapter so the whole trans doesn't have to be removed. You will need to pull back the trans a few inches to remove the mounting hardware from the seals adapter to get it out. Some do remove the trans for easier results as I do for my hands are bigger than most

Cruise control suddenly stopped working, what

Hello, first check fuses. You probably did that already. The next most likely cause is a vacuum hose problem.

Need to install new leather knob cover

Hello, I can help you with this. With a tiny screwdriver you gently pry up on the button in the middle of the old knob. Work slowly, pry up a little at a time on the front and then the back until the button comes out. Back and forth. If you look inside you will see a snap ring, you can use snap-ring pliers to remove it or some sort of sharp pick or a screwdriver, CAUTION, when it releases it may spring into outer space never to be seen again. Then just pull the old knob off and install the new one. Good luck and if you have any other questions about this just leave a comment.

Have been reading the reports on the idle and

I also have an 89 corvette that had the same problems.Ill tell you what fixed my problem. I also changed the fuel pressure regulator(its under the plentum in front of the distributor)This was not the problem but I replaced it anyway. The problem with the idle was my injectors. The factory multecs that are in there were original to the car and are not compatible with the blends of gasoline that are sold at most stations.Too much ethanol. I replaced mine with a set from fuel injector connection.(FIC) They are rebuilt with a three year warranty. Thats better than new ones. They are bosch 3.The car has run perfect every since. As far as the long starts it helped that too but if you do a little research on the 89 corvette youll find that GM put some crazy software in the computer that year. It requires the engine to turn over two times or about 3 seconds before the injectors fire. Thanks and good [email protected]
